Founded as Boulder Hospice in 1976, TRU Community Care is a nonprofit healthcare organization serving Boulder, Denver, and surrounding counties. With a mission to affirm life at every step of the journey with illness and loss, TRU provides a continuum of care through TRU Hospice, TRU PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly), TRU Palliative Care, TRU Grief Services, and Landmark Memory Care.

Salary: $75,000 to $95,000 per year, plus bonus.
Bonus Potential: Up to $20,000 in annual incentive compensation (Up to $1,500 per month, plus up to $500 per quarter)
Territory: Boulder Metro Area
Travel: Local travel throughout the assigned territory required
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am to 5pm

 

JOB SUMMARY

The Business Development Representative develops and maintains relationships with hospitals, healthcare providers, discharge planners, case managers, social workers, and other referral sources to generate qualified hospice referrals. This position manages an assigned territory, educates healthcare professionals about hospice services, develops referral relationships, and works with the Admissions and Clinical teams to support timely patient admissions and census goals.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Develop and maintain relationships with hospitals and other healthcare referral sources.
  • Build relationships with discharge planners, case managers, social workers, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Generate qualified hospice referrals through consistent relationship development and territory management.
  • Visit hospitals, healthcare facilities, physician offices, and other referral sources throughout the assigned territory.
  • Educate referral sources about hospice services, eligibility, and available resources.
  • Develop and execute territory plans to achieve referral and census goals.
  • Identify referral source needs and communicate appropriate solutions and services.
  • Collaborate with Admissions and Clinical staff to support timely and smooth patient admissions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of referral activity and territory activities.
  • Participate in community outreach, networking, and educational activities.
  • Represent TRU Community Care's mission, vision, and values in all interactions.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of experience in referral development, healthcare sales, business development, or healthcare marketing preferred.
  • Knowledge of hospice, palliative care, home health, long-term care, or a related healthcare setting preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and applicable healthcare regulations preferred.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
  • Professional and energetic presence.
  • Ability to work independently and manage an assigned territory.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Must maintain patient confidentiality and comply with applicable privacy requirements.
  • Must successfully pass required background checks and drug screening.
