JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary

Supervises daily activities within the inpatient hospital admissions department. This role is responsible for improving continuity of care for individuals and agencies within the behavioral healthcare system to support improved clinical outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversees the work of a team responsible for maintaining records, registering patients, coordinating room assignments, and making billing arrangements.

• Reviews the work of team members to ensure output meets organizational standards and complies with applicable regulatory requirements.

• Trains and mentors team members on the spot as needed and ensures continued staff training.

• Addresses inquiries from patients and/or their families.

• Implements processes, policies, and procedures designed to support high-quality patient care and satisfaction.

• Coordinates referrals, transfers, or discharges as needed.

• Performs complex tasks, typically following established processes.

• May contribute to departmental budgeting, strategic planning, and procedural changes.

• Reinforces relationships with sending facility nursing teams through clinical case review and coordination.

• Provides 24-hour oversight of the department and reviews clinical documentation to support compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines.

• Works to improve efficiency and quality in the delivery of department services and is responsible for developing and meeting departmental goals and objectives.

• Completes quality assurance checks and leads improvement initiatives for crisis triage, evaluation, intake, and admission services.

• Assigns and schedules evaluations, intakes, or admissions as dictated by established criteria.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has supervisory responsibilities, which include providing direction, training, coaching, performance feedback, scheduling, and personnel oversight in accordance with system policies.

• Effectively communicate via written, verbal, in-person, and virtual methods.

• Comprehensive knowledge of relevant behavioral healthcare access, intake, and admission concepts and principles.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree or higher.

Experience

Minimum of four years of relevant experience required.

Licenses and Certifications

No specific license or certification required.

Preferred Qualifications

Licensed Therapist or Registered Nurse (RN) preferred.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

Work is performed in an office, clinical, residential, and/or community-based environment depending on role and assignment. The position may involve routine use of office, clinical, or electronic systems and equipment. Duties may require prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and working at a computer. Work hours may include evenings, weekends, holidays, or extended shifts based on program needs. This position is classified as sedentary work. Sedentary work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
