Job Title

Shipping/Receiving Clerk

Hours: 7:00AM – 4:00PM Tuesday through Saturday

Reports to: Shipping Supervisor

Job Description

Job Summary/Purpose

The Shipping/Receiving Clerk is responsible for the accurate receipt, storage, transaction processing, packaging, and shipment of materials and finished goods. This position supports manufacturing operations by maintaining inventory accuracy, processing shipping and receiving transactions within ERP systems, coordinating with internal departments and carriers, and ensuring on-time delivery performance while maintaining compliance with company safety and quality standards.

Essential Duties

  • Receiving Activities
    • Verify incoming materials and products against purchase orders, packing slips, and shipping documentation.
    • Inspect incoming shipments for damage, shortages, or discrepancies and communicate issues to appropriate departments.
    • Accurately process receiving transactions in ERP systems.
  • Inventory Control
    • Maintain accurate inventory records and storage locations.
    • Assist with cycle counts, inventory audits, and inventory discrepancy investigations.
    • Ensure materials are properly labeled and stored according to company procedures.
  • Shipping Activities
    • Generate shipping documents including bills of lading, packing lists, labels, and carrier paperwork.
    • Coordinate outbound shipments with parcel, LTL, and freight carriers.
    • Track shipments and assist with resolution of shipping issues when required.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Maintain organized work areas consistent with 5S and workplace safety standards.

Working Environment

  • Climate-controlled environment, low noise level, PPE required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to frequently bend, reach, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to use computer equipment for prolonged periods throughout the workday.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum one year of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics operations.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and data-entry accuracy.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal teams, vendors, and transportation providers.
  • Manufacturing environment experience.

Preferred

  • Experience using ERP systems such as Syteline, JD Edwards, or similar business systems.
  • Experience with parcel shipping software and carrier portals.
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification if required.
