Performs select non-therapeutic functions. Transports patient in a safe and efficient manner. Maintains safety, orderliness and cleanliness of procedural area/ nursing unit. Collaborates with other care givers to assist in the timely and efficient delivery of patient care. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Patient Transport.
    • 1.1 Identifies correct patient(s) (via armband and verbal confirmation) for transport and transports patient(s) to the HVC procedural laboratories from prep/recovery and in-patient units.
  • 2. Room Turnover.
    • 2.1 Assists with the efficient turnover of HVC procedure rooms (CVL, EPL, IR, Neuro) including but not limited to disposal of used materials, disposal of used linens, disposal of trash, mopping of floor and making up table for next case. Performs these tasks according to established policy.
  • 3. Maintains safe and clean patient rooms.
    • 3.1 Performs patient room set-up and room cleaning when needed and under the direction of the HVC Manager or designee.
  • 4. Performs other related duties as needed and/or directed.
    • 4.1 Willingly assists other members of the health care team as directed and observed by HVC Manager.
  • 5. 5. Completes non-therapeutic functions under the direction of MD, PA, APRN, or RN. Remove medications from the pneumatic tube system sent from the Pharmacy or Hospital Supply to the unit/patient care areas.
    • 5.1 5 .1 Immediately deliver the medication(s) from the pneumatic tube system to the appropriate Registered Nurse, Physician, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant or other appropriate licensed practitioner. 5 .2 As directed by a Registered Nurse, Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or other appropriate licensed practitioner, remove IV solutions from the patient care area's clean utility room and immediately deliver to the appropriate licensed practitioner. 5 .3 As directed by a Registered Nurse, Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or other appropriate licensed practitioner, stock IV solutions in the patient care area's clean utility room. 5 .4

Qualifications

EDUCATION


High school diploma or equivalent.


EXPERIENCE


Previous experience cleaning in a healthcare environment preferred.


PHYSICAL DEMAND


Requires prolonged standing; walking; use of sight, hearing, and touch. May be exposed to infectious diseases. Will be exposed to physical, mental and emotional illness as well as end of life conditions and death. Moderate stress and risk of injury from patient care. Standing/walking for more than half of the day. Frequently bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, twisting and lifting. Must be able to assist pushing/pulling/lifting patients ranging from five (5) to three hundred (300) pounds. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of radiation.
