Supply Chain Planner
Classification – Exempt
Reports to – General Manager
Job Description
Summary/ObjectiveÂ
The Supply Chain Planner has a key role within this manufacturer. This individual is responsible for all planning and scheduling activities related to all purchase orders once they are released to the manufacturing floor. This individual sets the plan and the priorities, the floor reports back on what actually happened, and the schedule gets adjusted from there. Position requires excellent multitasking and cross-functional communication skills with the ability to balance both near term and long-term actions applicable to the maintenance and ongoing improvement of supply chain operations.

- Review Capacity Planning
- Inventory Management
- Maintain Production Schedules
- Maintain and monitor processes and schedules in EPICOR (ERP system in place)
- Make adjustments to work center selection and sequencing based on actual work loads
- Launch jobs on time and continue to keep the work flowing in the right direction
- Track available hours and work center capacity to flag where capacity is met
- Monitor bottlenecks and constraints
- Communicate with internal teams (engineering, purchasing, floor supervisors, stock keeping, inside sales).
- Coordinates as appropriate quality matters and engineering changes/developments between planning and shop floor
- Support on-time delivery, earned hours, and schedule targets
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
Physical Demands

This is largely a sedentary role; however, time will be spent on the shop floor daily.Â
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with overtime as required.Â
Travel
There is some minimal expected travel with this position.
Preferred Education and Experience
Required Experience
- Production planning and scheduling experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of an ERP system for planning and scheduling.
- Strong analytical ability and comfort working with capacity, run times, and delivery dates.
- Ability to adjust a schedule as conditions change and communicate what that means to the people affected.
- Willingness to work on-site and spend time on the production floor.
- A four-year degree is welcome but not required. Demonstrated capability carries more weight here than education.
Preferred Experience
- Job shop, make-to-order, or engineer-to-order manufacturing.
- Custom equipment, fabrication, or machining background.
- Epicor. Strong experience in another ERP is welcome.
- Interest in growing into a broader planning and procurement leadership role.
