Seasonal Laborer

Location: Brookings Municipal Utilities – Main Office

Department: Electric
Wage: $20.65/hour

Our seasonal team plays a vital role in serving the Brookings community. This position is responsible for assisting our full-time staff with routine maintenance, performing various manual labor tasks, and general grounds keeping work. Candidate must be dependable, responsible and safety oriented.

Essential Functions

Operates a company vehicle, including a small dump truck (CDL not required).
Perform various duties in regards to maintenance, grounds keeping, and light equipment operation.
Operate equipment, machinery and tools associated with mowing, raking, and planting.
Assists with routine maintenance duties when needed.

Minimum Qualifications
1. High School Diploma or GED

2. Must be at least 18 years of age.

3. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license.

4. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.

Physical Demands

Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; speak; hear; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
Frequently required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, bend crouch or crawl.
Required to actively listen and communicate with supervisor and peers.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and peripheral vision.
Occasionally required to lift, carry, and push/pull up to 70lbs.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee primarily works in an outdoor environment.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee will have frequent exposure to outside weather conditions, which may include extreme heat.
May be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, and machinery with moving parts.
The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal with occasional exposure to loud noise levels.
