What You’ll Do

As an Escrow Officer or Closing Agent, you'll coordinate residential and commercial real estate closings from preparation through completion. Working closely with Title Agents and escrow, you'll review closing documents, coordinate transaction details, facilitate closings, and help ensure every transaction is completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable requirements.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Receive and deposit escrow funds into established accounts and disburse funds from each account.
  • Review closing documents, including but not limited to real estate contracts, lender closing instructions, and title insurance commitments, to determine the accuracy of information and identify the need for additional documentation.
  • Contact courthouse personnel, buyers, sellers, lenders, REALTORS®, attorneys, and other transaction parties to obtain additional information as needed.
  • Calculate prorated balances for mortgages, property taxes, and hazard insurance premiums as of the closing date, and record those balances on the closing statement to provide a financial accounting of the real estate transaction.
  • Review contracts between buyers and sellers.
  • Compile figures to determine the final closing costs of each transaction, including loan, title, appraisal, recording, and other applicable fees.
  • Schedule closing appointments and answer questions regarding the closing process and procedures.
  • Conduct closings, obtain required signatures, and notarize documents as needed to facilitate the transfer of property ownership.
  • Review executed documents to ensure they comply with company policies, applicable regulations, and recording requirements.
  • Distribute completed documents to the appropriate parties to complete the transfer of property ownership.
  • Complete documentation necessary to facilitate each closing transaction.
  • May prepare work assignments and closing schedules to maintain an efficient workflow.
  • May compile statistical reports and maintain daily logs of closing activities.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Required: 2+ Years of experience in title, escrow, mortgage, banking, or real estate.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple transactions while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
