How you’ll contribute 

As a Front Office Coordinator, you will excel in this role by: 

  • Delivering an exceptional patient experience by providing compassionate, professional, and efficient front-office support to patients, families, providers, and staff.
  • Ensuring accurate and efficient clinic operations by coordinating schedules, communications, reports, documentation, and administrative responsibilities.
  • Supporting compliance and organizational standards by following federal and state regulations, HIPAA requirements, the hospital’s policies and procedures, and the organization’s Code of Conduct.
  • Managing financial and billing processes with accuracy by reviewing reports, maintaining organized documentation, identifying discrepancies, and supporting timely resolution of issues.
  • Demonstrating strong critical thinking and independent judgment by prioritizing competing responsibilities, resolving routine issues, and taking appropriate action in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Providing reliable EHR and administrative support through basic troubleshooting, maintaining accurate patient and practice information, resolving duplicate charts, and assisting providers and staff with system-related needs.
  • Contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team by supporting staff development, recruitment, payroll coordination, student engagement, reporting needs, and special projects that improve clinic efficiency and patient care.

What we’re looking for  

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent. Additional requirements include: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s Degree preferred.
  • Two years of clerical or administrative experience preferred, preferably in a healthcare or medical office setting.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, reports, and administrative responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with a professional, patient-focused approach when interacting with patients, providers, and staff.
  • Critical thinking and sound judgment with the ability to make decisions, resolve issues, and work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling patient information, billing and financial processes, reports, documentation, and data entry.
  • Technology, EHR, and compliance proficiency with the ability to learn and troubleshoot electronic health record systems while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA, organizational policies, and applicable regulations.

Swain Community Hospital is a 48-bed, fully-accredited critical access hospital located in Bryson City, NC, which has been serving the residents of Swain and Graham counties since 1948. The hospital, along with an outpatient physician practice, offers primary and inpatient care, as well as emergency, laboratory, imaging, rehabilitation, urology, cardiopulmonary, geriatric outpatient, pediatric and gastroenterology services, and a pain clinic.
