Occupational Therapist

Buckeye Elementary School District is hiring a school-based Occupational Therapist on a 10-month contract that renews annually each February/March, with no evenings, weekends, or productivity quotas, full school breaks off including summer, fall break, winter break, and spring break, plus Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) pension participation and full district benefits. This role is currently focused primarily on preschool students ages 3 to 5, with the potential to serve other age groups across the district as enrollment needs change.

Your Role Will Include:

• Conducting evaluations and clinical observations to identify students with educational disabilities.
• Writing evaluation reports and maintaining timely documentation, including therapy notes, IEP paperwork, and Medicaid billing.
• Developing and implementing intervention plans using a continuum of service delivery approaches in the least restrictive environment.
• Collaborating with teachers, parents, and IEP teams to build and carry out effective educational plans.
• Recommending adaptive equipment and assistive technology.
• Supervising a full-time Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) assigned to the preschool program, who provides day-to-day therapy under your oversight, allowing you to focus on evaluation, planning, and higher-need students.
• Supporting student transitions from early intervention through preschool, school-age, and school-to-work.

Qualifications:

• Accredited degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Valid AOTCB certification and Arizona Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners licensure (OT).
• Valid Arizona driver's license.
• Developmental, pediatric, or school-based experience preferred, not required. The district welcomes clinic-based OTs and new grads transitioning into school-based work.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with district personnel and other team members.

Salary and Benefits:

• $71,563 per year on a 10-month contract that renews annually each February/March
