Your New Role:

We are seeking a Media Engineering Manager to lead the technical evolution ofĀ Keystone, an internal production technology platform that serves as the front door to the content supply chain. Keystone supports productions fromĀ initialĀ intake through final asset delivery, connecting production teams, vendors, QC, localization, media operations, and internal distribution systems.Ā

This role sits at the intersection of media engineering, software development, post-production operations, and platform delivery. The Media Engineering Manager willĀ be responsible forĀ leading a development team, designing scalable media workflow solutions, supporting intersystem integrations, and ensuring Keystone continues to meet the needs of a growing portfolio of shows, users, vendors, and operational workflows.Ā

This role requires a hybrid skill set: deep AV media engineeringĀ expertise, traditional hands-on-keyboard software development capability, and the ability to lead engineers in a complex, business-critical production environment.Ā

This is not a traditional enterprise application role. Keystone is a complex, operationally critical platform used daily by internal and external teams working under tight production schedules, high asset volume, and strict delivery requirements.Ā

Responsibilities:

Ā

Engineering Leadership & Team ManagementĀ

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers, media engineers, and technical contributors supporting KeystoneĀ

  • Provide technical direction across platform architecture, workflow automation, integrations, and media pipeline executionĀ

  • Balance hands-on engineering contribution with people leadership, delivery management, and technical oversightĀ

  • Partner with product, operations, and architecture leadership to translate business and workflow needs into scalable technical solutionsĀ

  • Establish engineering standards, development practices, documentation expectations, and delivery discipline across the Keystone teamĀ

Media Workflow & Platform ExpertiseĀ

  • Develop andĀ maintainĀ a deep understanding of end-to-end production, post-production, andĀ distribution pipelinesĀ

  • DesignĀ multi-functionalĀ media workflows involving data I/O, transcode, QC, localization,Ā metadata enrichment,Ā packaging, and final deliveryĀ

  • IdentifyĀ workflow gaps, technical bottlenecks, and manual workarounds that can be improved through automation, integration, or platform enhancementĀ

  • Bring practical media engineering judgment to decisions involving file formats, metadata, essence, package structures, and downstream delivery requirementsĀ

Systems, Integrations & AutomationĀ

  • Lead technical integration efforts acrossĀ AWS,Ā SDVI Rally, MAM systems, internal media platforms, vendor systems, QC tools, transcode services, localization workflows, and delivery endpointsĀ

  • Design and support intersystem integrations using APIs, event-driven workflows, scripting, data mapping, and middleware patternsĀ

  • Partner with architecture and infrastructure teams to ensure Keystone integrates reliably with broader enterprise systemsĀ

  • Troubleshoot complex issues across connected systems, including failed jobs, missing metadata, file movement errors, transcode failures, QC exceptions, and delivery blockersĀ

  • Improve workflow observability through logging, monitoring, status tracking, reporting, and operational dashboardsĀ

Hands-On Engineering & DeliveryĀ

  • Contribute directly to technical design, code review, scripting, integration logic, and platform development as neededĀ

  • Help decompose complex technical and operational needs into actionable engineering workĀ

  • Support backlog refinement, sprint planning, solution design, release planning, and production deployment activitiesĀ

  • Ensure engineering work is delivered withĀ appropriate quality, scalability, security, and operational supportabilityĀ

  • Drive continuous improvement across development practices, technical documentation, platform reliability, and release executionĀ

Cross-Functional LeadershipĀ

  • Serve as the primary technical bridge between:Ā

  • KeystoneĀ engineeringĀ team andĀ chief architectĀ

  • Product management and engineering teamsĀ

  • Media operations, QC, localization, and delivery teamsĀ

  • Vendors and external technology partnersĀ

  • Infrastructure, security, architecture, and enterprise platform teamsĀ

  • Lead technical alignment across multiple brands, workflows, production types, and operational stakeholder groupsĀ

  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both engineering and non-technical audiencesĀ

  • Support decision-making in environments where production urgency, platform stability, and long-term scalability must be carefully balancedĀ

Operational Reliability & SupportĀ

  • Understand how engineering decisions impact:Ā

  • Internal and external user onboardingĀ

  • AssetĀ ingest, movement, storage, and trackingĀ

  • Transcode, QC, localization, packaging, and delivery pipelinesĀ

  • Metadata exchange and downstream system dependenciesĀ

  • Vendor handoffs and external partner integrationsĀ

  • Security, access control, and content protection requirementsĀ

  • Production support, incident response, and escalation pathsĀ

  • Partner with support and operations teams to reduce recurring issues, improve root cause analysis, and strengthen platform reliabilityĀ

  • Help ensure Keystone can evolve without disrupting active shows, in-flight deliveries, or critical production deadlinesĀ

What Makes This Role UniqueĀ

  • Keystone is a business-critical platform with no simple fallbackĀ

  • The role requires both media engineering fluency and practical software developmentĀ expertiseĀ

  • The platform supports internal users, external vendors, QC technicians, localization teams, metadata operators, and supply chain stakeholdersĀ

  • The engineering team must support both high-volume television workflows and theatrical production needsĀ

  • SuccessĀ requiresĀ comfortĀ operatingĀ in environments where production schedules move faster than typical software release cyclesĀ

  • The role combines people leadership, technical architecture, hands-on implementation, and operational accountabilityĀ

QualificationsĀ

  • 7+ years of experience in media engineering, software engineering, platform engineering, or technical delivery rolesĀ

  • 3+ years of experience leading engineers, developers, media engineers, or technical teamsĀ

  • Strong understanding of media supply chain, post-production, localization, QC, mastering, packaging, or content delivery workflowsĀ

  • Hands-on experience with software development, scripting, APIs, integrations, databases, cloud services, or workflow automationĀ

  • Experience working with MAM systems, workflow orchestration platforms, media processing systems, or enterprise content platformsĀ

  • Proven ability to lead technical teams through complex system integrations and production-critical delivery effortsĀ

  • Strong troubleshooting skills across media workflows, system integrations, metadata exchange, and operational support issuesĀ

  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, production stakeholders, vendors, and executive leadershipĀ

Preferred ExperienceĀ

  • SDVI Rally or comparable media workflow orchestration platformsĀ

  • MAM, DAM, CMS, or media asset lifecycle systemsĀ

  • Transcoding, automated QC, mastering, localization, packaging, and delivery workflowsĀ

  • IMF,Ā ProRes, mezzanine formats, proxies, captions/subtitles, audio deliverables, metadata, and distribution packagesĀ

  • API-based integrations, message queues, event-driven workflows, cloud storage, and media pipeline automationĀ

  • AWS, cloud media services, serverless workflows, or scalable cloud-based processing environmentsĀ

  • ModernĀ web basedĀ application technologies (react, nest, node, tailwind,Ā prisma,Ā typebox,Ā etc)Ā

  • Vendor integrations and external partner workflowsĀ

  • Internal enterprise platforms rather than consumer-facing applicationsĀ

  • Experience supporting high-volume, deadline-driven media operationsĀ

  • Industry-recognized credentials or training in cloud architecture, software engineering, Agile, project delivery, media systems, or management practicesĀ
