Harney District Hospital is seeking a Casual Paramedic to join our hospital-based EMS Team. Casual Paramedics will work a minimum of 2 shifts per month. 

Paramedics are recognized as a major component of a team, providing optimal care in a very remote environment. You make decisions independently based on scope and protocols and you provide most if not all ALS interventions required. You deliver your patient to an ED where you are on a first name basis with physicians and staff, all who are there to support you in your job and you in theirs. Frequently, you continue to assist with the more critical patients in the ED under the direction of the ED physician.

Harney District Hospital is a critical access hospital and level 4 trauma center. The Emergency Medical Services department is run through the hospital and responsible for responding to more than 1,000 requests per year covering greater than 10,800 square miles. Ambulance staffing is composed of a paramedic and an EMT or Advanced EMT, supplemented by casual EMTs and volunteer rural first responders. Staff respond from the hospital during business hours and from their homes the remaining hours.  Department also provides inter-facility transports to Bend, Boise, or other larger cities.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Oregon State Licensure (or eligible: Nationally Registered and hold an Associate Degree, or 3 years' experience in a busy 911 system.
  • Current ACLS Provider Certification
  • Current CPR Provider Certification
  • Successfully completed EVOC program
  • Able to obtain PALS Provider Certification
  • Able to obtain ICS 100 and 700 within 6 months of hire
  • Able to obtain PHTLS Certification within 6 months of hire
  • Able to obtain NRP Certification within 6 months of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ventilator experience
  • Infusion pump experience
  • 12-Lead experience
  • Critical Care transport experience
