The Learning Experience – Byron Center is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Assistant Director to join our leadership team.

Working closely with the Center Director, you'll play an important role in the day-to-day success of our school — supporting teachers, building relationships with families, maintaining licensing standards, and helping ensure every classroom provides an exceptional experience for children.

This is a great next step for an early childhood professional who has strong classroom and leadership experience and is ready to make a broader impact across an entire center.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Center Director with daily center operations

  • Help ensure compliance with Michigan childcare licensing, health, and safety requirements

  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training teachers

  • Coordinate staffing, classroom coverage, and daily scheduling needs

  • Coach and support teachers through classroom observations and ongoing feedback

  • Promote consistent implementation of The Learning Experience's proprietary L.E.A.P. Curriculum

  • Build positive, professional relationships with children and families

  • Conduct tours and support prospective families throughout the enrollment process

  • Help drive enrollment, family satisfaction, and retention

  • Support center events, community partnerships, and local outreach

  • Foster a positive team culture built around communication, accountability, and collaboration

Ideal Qualifications

  • Previous leadership experience in a licensed childcare center, preschool, or early childhood education program

  • Strong understanding of Michigan childcare licensing requirements

  • Experience leading, coaching, and developing early childhood educators

  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills

  • Comfortable interacting with both current and prospective families

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred

  • Passion for creating a positive environment for children, families, and teachers

What We Offer

  • $45,000–$48,000 annual salary

  • Bonus opportunities

  • Full-time Monday–Friday schedule

  • Health, dental, and vision benefits for eligible employees

  • Employee childcare discount

  • Professional development and leadership training

  • Supportive ownership and collaborative leadership team
