What You’ll Do
As a safety/security officer, you will direct the daily activities of adolescent males in programming utilizing acceptable behavioral management principles. Must have the ability to exercise independent judgment in crisis situations.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Manages the Front Desk / Control Room
- Interact with clients in a manner that ensures their safety and security.
- Maintains regular communication with supervisors and co-workers.
- Manages Security Screenings of All Staff, Clients, and Visitors entering the building
- Conducts contraband searches
- Manages video surveillance system and responds accordingly
- Provides effective facility security including conducting headcounts, room checks, and observing client movement.
- Observes client behavior and intervenes appropriately.
- Observes activities and responds accordingly including emergency situations including evacuation, CPR, or first aid).
- Demonstrates appropriate use of Safe Crisis Management techniques and skills

Qualifications
Education and Experience Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
Other Qualifications:
- At least twenty-one (21) years of age.
- Criminal clearances (Act 33 and 34, specific State & child clearances and, if necessary, FBI).
- Non-communicable diseases, physical exams, drug testing, & TB testing.
- Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license from the employee’s state of residence.
- Valid registered vehicle insurance.
- Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.Â
- Bilingual - Spanish speaking.
Schedule
- Full-Time
- Shift: second shift (7:00pm = 4:00pm)
Must be available to work weekends!
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and remain active and engaged throughout an 8-hour residential shift
- Ability to work in a secure, controlled-access residential facility environment
- Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to safety emergencies
