Animator

Location: Cambridge, MA

The Gist

You'll design and author character animation that works within the constraints of real hardware, partnering closely with engineering and behavior teams.

What You’ll Do

• Animate character behaviors, reactions, and idles

• Develop the motion language and style guide for our characters

• Iterate quickly with engineers to refine motion on real robots

• Partner with the character AI team to align animation with character standards

What We’re Looking For

Must-haves:

• 3+ years of professional character animation experience

• Strong reel demonstrating personality and acting in motion

• Experience with Maya, Blender, or equivalent

• Bonus: experience animating for games, robotics, or animatronics

Dynamic Creatures is a robotics company designing and building interactive character robots for entertainment and hospitality brands. We are creating a new category of mobile characters that move naturally through guest environments, understand the context of an interaction and respond in real time. Dynamic Creatures offers character-based experiences built on Boston Dynamics and other systems, as well as fully original robots created for a specific brand, environment or story. As Boston Dynamics’ official entertainment and hospitality partner, the company works with entertainment companies to develop guest-facing character experiences designed to feel personal, attentive, and memorable. Dynamic Creatures was co-founded by CEO Marc Theermann, former chief strategy officer at Boston Dynamics and a former senior leader at Google, and chief technology officer Farbod Farshidian, a globally recognized robotics researcher and former research leader at the Robotics and AI Institute.
