Are you an experienced sterile processing professional ready to take the next step in your career? Slate Hill Surgery Center, part of the Orthopedic Institute of Pennsylvania (OIP), is seeking a knowledgeable and hands-on Sterile Processing Supervisor to lead our Sterile Processing Department.
This is a working supervisor role where you'll provide leadership and direction to the sterile processing team while remaining actively involved in the day-to-day processing of surgical instruments and equipment. You'll be responsible for helping ensure instruments are properly decontaminated, inspected, assembled, sterilized, stored, and available when needed to support the surgical schedule.
As the department's subject matter expert, you'll play a critical role in patient safety, regulatory compliance, staff development, and efficient surgical operations. You'll work closely with nurses, surgical staff, physicians, vendors, and leadership to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure the highest standards of quality are maintained.

What You'll Do
As the Sterile Processing Supervisor, you will:
- Oversee daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department while actively performing sterile processing duties
- Perform and oversee decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, storage, and distribution of surgical instruments
- Coordinate department workflow, staffing assignments, and instrument needs based on the surgical schedule
- Ensure surgical instruments and equipment are properly processed and available when needed
- Lead, train, mentor, and support sterile processing staff
- Complete and maintain competency validation and training documentation
- Monitor sterilization processes, records, instrument tracking, and quality documentation
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels and coordinate equipment maintenance and service needs
- Identify and resolve instrument, equipment, workflow, and operational issues
- Partner with nursing and surgical teams to support efficient operating room workflow
- Promote compliance with AAMI, AORN, OSHA, CDC, and applicable accreditation standards
- Participate in quality assurance and process improvement initiatives
- Provide coaching, feedback, and performance support to department staff
- Participate in interviewing and hiring of sterile processing team members
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
- Serve as a resource and subject matter expert for sterile processing practices
- Perform other duties as assigned
What You'll Bring
Required
- High school diploma or GED
- CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) or CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) certification
- Minimum of three years of sterile processing experience
- Current knowledge of AAMI ST79 standards and infection prevention practices
- Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation and sterile processing procedures
- Ability to work hands-on in all areas of sterile processing
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment
Preferred
- Prior supervisory, lead, charge, or preceptor experience
- Experience working in an ambulatory surgery center or hospital
- Experience with instrument tracking systems
- Experience with quality assurance, audits, and regulatory readiness
- Experience training and validating sterile processing competencies
