The Opportunity
Ubique Group runs its commercial engine on data that moves constantly between Salesforce, NetSuite, Snowflake, Shopify, Manhattan Associates, SPS Commerce, Salsify, and a growing list of marketplace and carrier APIs. When those pipes break, orders stall, EDI documents fail, and executive reporting goes quiet.
The Director of Data Services owns that entire surface: the vision for where enterprise data is going, the platforms that hold it, and the integrations that keep it flowing. This is a hands-on leadership role, reporting to our Chief Information Officer. You will set strategy in the morning and diagnose a failed Boomi process in the afternoon.
About Ubique Group
Ubique Group is a fast-growing consumer and commercial products company behind brands including Flash Furniture, Bright Beginnings, Merrick Lane, Emma + Oliver, and Martha Stewart. Our Technology team keeps the data behind that growth accurate, connected, and trusted, and we are investing in the platforms and people that make that possible at scale.
What You'll Do
- Define and drive the multi-year enterprise data strategy, including which systems serve as sources of truth and which serve as analytical layers, and establish the governance model that keeps that distinction real.
- Own the health, cost, roadmap, and access model of every platform that houses enterprise data: Snowflake, Tableau Cloud, Boomi, SPS Commerce, the Salesforce and NetSuite data layers, and Salsify.
- Serve as the senior escalation point when data does not arrive, does not match, or duplicates, driving root-cause analysis and building the observability to catch failures before the business does.
- Own the runbooks and cross-functional training so Customer Service, Sales Support, and Operations can raise and interpret transmission failures without routing everything to IT.
- Maximize the return on the Tableau investment, prioritize and deliver the reporting backlog across Finance, Sales, Supply Chain, People and Culture, and Customer Care, and own the financial and sales reporting hierarchy.
- Support enterprise programs with data workstreams, including the Shopify migration and WMS and freight initiatives.
- Manage the data and integration vendor portfolio and software budget, and lead, coach, and grow the data engineering team so no platform or integration has a single point of human failure.
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years in data engineering, business intelligence, or enterprise integration, including at least 3 years leading a team.
- Deep hands-on experience with a cloud data warehouse (Snowflake strongly preferred), including schema design, performance, and cost management.
- Strong SQL, able to open a broken pipeline and find the defect yourself.
- Production experience with an enterprise integration platform (Boomi preferred; MuleSoft, Informatica, or similar considered), including error handling and connector troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of EDI in a retail or wholesale context (850, 856, 810) and the operational consequences when a document fails.
- Hands-on Tableau experience covering both development and site or server administration.
- Practical familiarity with the data models of a major CRM and ERP (Salesforce and NetSuite ideal), and the ability to translate between executive stakeholders and engineers without losing either audience.
Preferred
- Furniture, consumer products, e-commerce, or omnichannel distribution background.
- Experience with marketplace and channel APIs (Amazon Seller Central, Target, Shopify) and PXM or PIM platforms such as Salsify.
- Exposure to WMS and TMS integrations (Manhattan Associates, freight and parcel carrier data).
- Â Experience establishing data governance in an environment where reporting layers had drifted into becoming systems of record.
Why Join Us
This is a rare mandate: full ownership of the platforms and pipelines that the entire commercial organization runs on, with the authority to fix what is broken and the resources of an established multi-brand platform behind you. If you want leadership trusting the numbers, source systems holding real authority over their data, and a team that can operate every critical pipeline without a single indispensable person, including you, we want to talk.
