JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
The Mortgage Loan Officer performs the core duties of a mortgage lender, including taking applications, underwriting loans, and closing mortgage transactions. This role is also responsible for developing new business, maintaining and servicing an existing loan portfolio, and advising borrowers on questions related to their financial status.

- Demonstrates strong working knowledge of all bank products, services, policies and procedures.
- Be able to underwrite, approve and close or deny mortgage loans per Legence Bank’s Loan Policy and FreddieMac Guidelines.Â
- Be able to underwrite per RocketMortgage TPO guidelines.Â
- Utilize sales management training and tools to identify and refer current and prospective clients.
- Effectively partner with other team members and departments to deliver the full complement of Legence Bank products and services.Â
- Build external relationships through meeting with realtors, participating in civic groups and attending networking functions throughout the bank network.
- Cross-sell applicable products and services to existing portfolio customers to help make Legence their primary bank.
- Work with Branch Managers and their teams to assist and acquire new prospective customer relationships.Â
- Prospect for clients independently by utilizing referral sources, existing customers, and centers of influence.
- Be an ambassador for Legence Bank within the community through participation in bank sponsored events, philanthropic opportunities and civic events.Â
- Adhere to all Legence Bank and AFMFS service standards, serving as an example to other team members, as well to our customers.
- Represent and promote the company within the community through participation in bank sponsored events, philanthropic opportunities and civic events.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the "core" work hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Three (3) years of Mortgage Lending Experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Able to Quickly Learn New Software
- Valid Driver’s License
Preferred Education and Experience
- Five (5) Years’ Experience in a Financial Setting
- Five (5) Years’ Experience in Mortgage Lending
