Job DetailsJob Location: Carlstadt, NJ - Carlstadt, NJ 07072Salary Range: $30.00 - $35.00 Hourly POSITION SUMMARY The Warehouse Sortation Associate sorts inbound Walmart package volume by delivery route within the depot and stages that volume at the assigned van bay ahead of the scheduled dispense window. Drivers load their own vans. The role exists to protect a fixed, time-bound outbound commitment: every route must leave the depot on time, correctly loaded, with an accurate count. Accuracy and pace in this role are the direct upstream drivers of on-time arrival and same-day completion across the delivery network. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Receive and induct inbound package volume at the dock, confirming receipt against the inbound manifest. Scan and sort packages to the correct route and van designation using the handheld device and system in use at the site. Verify package counts against the manifest and reconcile any variance before the volume is staged. Stage sorted volume by van bay in the sequence required for dispense, so that loadout is not delayed by searching or re-sorting. Stage completed volume at the assigned van bay and hand off to the driver. Drivers load their own vans; the associate is responsible for the volume being correct, complete and in the right place when the driver arrives. Identify and segregate damaged, short, over, unmanifested, and misrouted packages, and report each to the supervisor for documentation before dispense. Maintain a clean, organized, and OSHA-compliant sort area throughout the shift, including keeping aisles and dock approaches clear. Complete end-of-sort count reconciliation and report any discrepancy to the supervisor before the dispense window opens, not after. Follow all site safety rules, wear required personal protective equipment at all times, and report any injury, near-miss, or unsafe condition immediately. Support the supervisor with any reasonable additional task within the sort area that keeps the dispense window on schedule. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Eighteen years of age or older, with authorisation to work in the United States. Ability to read, write, and communicate in English sufficiently to work from a printed or electronic manifest and operate a handheld scanning device. Ability to perform basic arithmetic accurately under time pressure for count verification. Reliable attendance and punctuality. This role supports a fixed outbound window; a late start is a service failure. Ability to pass JWL’s standard pre-employment screening, described below. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Six months or more of warehouse, parcel, distribution, or fulfilment experience. Prior experience with scanner-driven sortation or a warehouse management system. Prior experience working to a timed outbound or dispatch commitment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT Lift, carry, push, and pull packages weighing up to fifty pounds repeatedly throughout the shift. Stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach overhead, and kneel for the duration of the shift. Work in a dock and warehouse environment that is not climate controlled and is subject to seasonal temperature variation. Work in proximity to moving vehicles, manual material handling equipment, and other personnel. EQUIPMENT AND SYSTEMS Manual pallet jack, hand cart, and roll cage. Trained in-house; no external certification required. Handheld scanning device and the route or warehouse management application in use at the site. Required personal protective equipment, including a high-visibility vest and safety footwear.
