Turn Your Refrigeration Experience Into a Specialized Career

LRS is growing, and we're looking for a Service Technician with refrigeration experience to join our laboratory equipment service team.

If you have experience in HVAC or commercial refrigeration but have never worked on laboratory equipment, that's okay — we'll train you.

We're looking for someone who understands refrigeration systems, is mechanically inclined, enjoys troubleshooting, and wants to develop a specialized skill set.

You'll learn to service and repair equipment including:

  • Ultra-low temperature (-80°C) freezers
  • Laboratory refrigerators and freezers
  • Centrifuges
  • Cascade refrigeration systems
  • Temperature controllers and electronic controls
  • Other specialized laboratory equipment
Our customers include hospitals, universities, pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology companies, and research laboratories throughout the region.

What You'll Do

  • Diagnose refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical problems
  • Troubleshoot equipment that isn't maintaining temperature
  • Perform leak detection and pressure testing
  • Recover, evacuate, and charge refrigeration systems
  • Replace compressors and other refrigeration components
  • Braze refrigeration piping and components
  • Troubleshoot controllers, sensors, relays, fans, and electrical components
  • Perform preventive maintenance
  • Diagnose and repair laboratory centrifuges
  • Complete service reports and document repairs
  • Communicate professionally with customers
  • Perform repairs both at customer locations and at our shop
What We're Looking For

You should have:

  • Refrigeration or HVAC experience
  • A good understanding of the refrigeration cycle
  • Mechanical troubleshooting ability
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Experience using gauges, meters, vacuum pumps, recovery equipment, and common service tools
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Good communication skills
  • Dependability and a professional attitude
  • A willingness to learn
Even better if you have:

  • EPA Section 608 certification
  • Commercial refrigeration experience
  • HVAC/R trade school education
  • Brazing experience
  • Compressor replacement experience
  • Experience reading wiring diagrams and electrical schematics
  • Cascade refrigeration experience
Experience with -80°C freezers, centrifuges, or laboratory equipment is NOT required. We will provide training.

Pay & Benefits

Starting Pay: $28–$38 per hour, depending on experience

We also offer:

  • Overtime opportunities
  • Health insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off
  • Paid holidays
  • Employee/performance bonuses
  • Company-provided service vehicle during working hours
  • Company-provided tools and equipment
  • Company-provided cell phone
  • Company-provided uniforms
  • Paid training
  • Opportunities for advancement
Company service vehicles are currently kept at the LRS facility and are not take-home vehicles.

90-Day Compensation Review

We want to reward technicians who learn quickly and become productive members of our service team.

Your compensation will be reviewed after your first 90 days based on technical progress, reliability, troubleshooting ability, and your ability to perform service calls independently.

Schedule

Monday–Friday | Full-Time

Most work is performed during normal business hours. Overtime opportunities are available. Local and regional travel is part of the position, with occasional out-of-town work.

Why LRS?

This isn't another residential HVAC job.

You'll be working on specialized equipment that supports medical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and scientific research. We'll take the refrigeration skills you already have and train you to work on equipment that many HVAC technicians never get the opportunity to service.

As our service division grows, we're looking for someone who wants to grow with us and become a key member of the LRS service team.

If you're mechanically inclined, know refrigeration, enjoy figuring out why equipment isn't working, and want to learn a specialized trade, we'd like to hear from you.

Apply today to join LRS.
