The Assistant Controller has responsibility for managing and controlling the financial activity and reporting for EPRI International, Europe and Gulf subsidiaries. This position is responsible for all areas relating to corporate accounting, operational accounting, cash forecasting, and financial reporting. The Assistant Controller is responsible for developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This position reports to the Controller and operates under general supervision with wide latitude for the use of independent judgment and initiative.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership & Governance
- Establish and oversee accounting policies, procedures, and governance standards across international entities.
- Provide strategic accounting guidance to senior leadership and business partners.
- Ensure consistency of accounting practices across EPRI International, Europe, and Gulf operations.
Global Financial Oversight
- Lead and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual International, Europe and Gulf close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, including preparation of variance commentary for income statement and balance sheet accounts.
- Provide management with reporting inclusive of consolidated income statement and balance sheet, project and non-project costs and organizational indirect costs.
- Direct intercompany accounting strategies and cross-border financial activities.
- Design, maintain, and monitor internal controls over financial reporting and coordinate remediation of control deficiencies.
- Manage process documentation, walkthroughs, and controls testing with internal and external auditors.
- Research and document complex accounting matters, new accounting pronouncements, and implementation of changes in IFRS.
- Provide oversight of legal entity compliance, statutory reporting, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with management and FP&A team in developing budgets and annual operating plans for revenues, expenses, and projects for EPRI International, Europe and Gulf.
Treasury & Cash Management
- Responsible for global cash management, including forecasting cash flows and monitoring interfaces with external banks.
Transformation & Organizational Leadership
- Lead global finance transformation initiatives, ERP enhancements, and process standardization efforts.
- Identify opportunities to centralize accounting activities and improve global operating efficiency.
- Drive accounting process improvements, automation initiatives, and ERP optimization efforts to increase efficiency and strengthen controls across the EPRI International framework.
- Lead and develop professional staff and accounting managers, building organizational capability and succession plans.
Education and Experience:
- Require Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. MBA or CPA desirable.
- Require 10+ years of experience in accounting.
- Experience managing complex global operation and leading an accounting team.
- Strong knowledge of international accounting principles and practices, including proficiency in US GAAP and familiarity with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), financial concepts, project accounting practices, and international compliance regulations.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (such as SAP) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Adobe PDF) for financial analysis, reporting, and presentations.
