Description
As a formal server, you are responsible for providing an exceptional dining experience for our membership and their guests. You are welcoming and accommodating with the ability to educate our members on food and beverage recommendations that we not only meet but exceed their expectations. The work is highly precise in nature and requires a very strong attention to detail. It is vital for the work output to be very high quality, with correct results, time and time again. Checking and double-checking is often necessary; individuals performing the job must be patient and conscientious. Both the content and the presentation are important; all work must be highly polished.
Requirements
- Set the dining room with the proper linens, silverware, napkins, and glassware.
- Set up the side station and perform assigned side (prep) work.
- Learn members’ names and their special preferences.
- Greet and acknowledge members and guests and provide immediate attention to all members and guests upon seating.
- Serve tables efficiently in a friendly and courteous manner, offering suggestions on daily specials and wine selections.
- Follow proper formal service protocols, including proper bread service, wine service, and coursing out each three-to-six course meal. Â Â Â Â Â Â
- Facilitate proper service techniques, such as serving from the left and clearing from the right.Â
- Advise supervisor or manager of any complaints should they occur.Â
- Ensure that the correct member numbers and names are given for billing.Â
- Complete all closing duties assigned by the manager. Â Â
Qualifications
- Minimum one year of service experience in fine dining restaurants or country clubs.Â
- Excellent communication, hospitable, and interpersonal skills.Â
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule; including nights, weekends, and holidays. (The Byron Nelson Lounge is open Thursday-Saturday weekly, with service starting at 5:00 PM.)
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Frequently lift and carry up to 35 pounds, stand for long periods of time, and climb stairs.Â
- Extensive knowledge of wine, wine service, and wine pairings.
- Ability to time the service of each course and mark the table for each course.Â
- Prior knowledge of spirits and cocktails. Â
