Your Impact: 

Bring technical leadership and hands-on engineering expertise to complex business and enterprise software solutions. You will translate business requirements and functional specifications into logical program designs, guide project teams through implementation and ongoing maintenance, and help ensure released applications are deployed successfully. As a technical expert, you will shape solutions across multiple computing environments while personally developing and delivering complex code modules, stable application systems, and integrated enterprise software solutions. This is a hybrid role based in the Charlotte Tech Hub, with two days in the office. 

What You Will Do

  • Lead complex technical solutions: Solve problems spanning multiple applications, drive improvements across portfolios, lead projects with significant business implications, and contribute to planning, prioritization, and estimates. 

  • Build resilient, scalable applications: Lead development of integrated business and/or enterprise applications that are maintainable and aligned with architectural standards. 

  • Shape engineering direction: Promote awareness, adoption, and product alignment with enterprise-recommended frameworks, tools, technologies, engineering platforms, and architectural design processes. 

  • Engineer for operational excellence: Drive disaster recovery and capacity planning, performance, regression and chaos testing, observability alerts and dashboards, reliabilit y processes, and recovery runbooks. 

  • Simplify complex problems: Break down complex challenges into practical solutions that can evolve over time. 

  • Raise engineering standards: Educate others on best practices, including code quality analysis, test coverage, security principles such as authentication and authorization protocols, and Agile processes. 

  • Mentor and advise engineers: Share an in-depth understanding of enterprise and industry technologies, tools, methodologies, policies, standards, and best practices. 

  • Evaluate emerging technologies: Continuously assess and recommend new enterprise software components and technologies. 

  • Improve how the team delivers: Simplify solutions, optimize processes, remove bottlenecks, and resolve escalated issues. 

What You Bring: 

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems (CIS), or a related field, or equivalent years of experience in lieu of the education requirement, if applicable. 

  • Software development experience: 7 years of experience in software development or a related field. 

  • Engineering breadth: 6 years of experience in any of the following: software engineering competencies frontend technologies (UI/UX), middleware (microservices and APIs), database technologies, DevOps. 

  • Agile delivery: 6 years of experience working on project(s) involving the implementation of solutions applying development lifecycles through iterative Agile development. 
     

It's a plus if you have: 

  • Advanced education: Master's degree in computer science, CIS, or a related field. 

  • Technical documentation and business systems: 6 years of experience writing technical documentation in a software environment, developing and implementing business systems within an organization, and working with source code control systems. 

  • Enterprise engineering: 6 years of experience working with an IT Infrastructure Library framework, defect or incident tracking software, web services, and application and integration middleware. 

  • Systems analysis and design: 6 years of experience in systems analysis, including defining technical requirements and performing high-level design for complex solutions. 

  • Technical breadth: 6 years of experience working with three or more of the following: continuous integration/continuous deployment tools, frontend technologies (UI/UX), middleware, database technologies, DevOps. 

  • Technical leadership: 4 years of experience leading teams, with or without direct reports.
