What You’ll Do

Position Summary: The risk analyst is responsible for supporting the activities of Risk Management and Legal Services with emphasis on risk management investigations, participation in serious safety events, follow up of RCA Action Planning and updates. Developing educational needs based on incident report system trends. Collaboration with Risk Management and Legal team for timely updates regarding incident trends and goals. 

Minimum Qualifications Required Educational Degree: RN- BSN Preferred Major/Area of Concentration: Clinical/Patient Care 

Preferred Education: RN-BSN Required Certifications,

 Credentials and Licenses: CPHRM required within 2 years of hire Preferred Certifications, Credentials and Licenses: Current CPHRM

 Required Experience: 5 years in Clinical Setting. Entry Level 0-3 years of Risk Management experience.

 Preferred Experience: 1-3 years of Leadership Experience (Risk Management, Education, Supervisory Role)

 Job Specific Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Demonstrates appropriate judgment and maturity. • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills. • Will exemplify excellent interpersonal skills - telephone etiquette. • Extensive knowledge in varied software programs and use of office equipment. • Demonstrate ability to organize and prioritize many different tasks and • Responsibilities with minimal direct supervision. • Strong Critical Thinking Skills • Strong Communication Skills • Organized and Timely responses to customers • Extensive Knowledge of software programs, Smart sheets, Press Ganey, Power point, Excel, & Microsoft Word 

Job Specific Essential Functions • Assist with intake and investigation of incident/medical error reports in collaboration with Patient Safety Officers/Quality Team and Clinical Leadership Teams • Attends and participates in RCA’s, ACA’s, and Serious Safety Events • Review and analyze monthly risk data for trends and provide report to director/committees. (at least quarterly) • Develop, in collaboration with team members, yearly Risk Management Education plan and materials to include written, electronic and in person education for management and staff. • Routinely review risk and safety industry literature and communicate findings to department. • Serves as department expert for Incident Reporting database • Recommends and or develops policies and procedure aimed at reducing system clinical and business risk • Participates on select committees • Travel to each critical access site weekly/bi-weekly and as needed for risk mitigation. • On-site 4 days a week, remote 1 day a week. • Report daily summaries of serious care events to risk manager/director. • Risk rounding clinical departments level huddles quarterly. (2A, 2B, 4W, 3A, etc.) Work with manager to request huddle times/locations. • Be a presence in the clinical setting at all locations when needed and at least bi-weekly for caregivers and leaders to promote safe communication and opportunities for improvement. • Follow up on RCA action items to promote accountability and commitment to organizational improvement.
