Role Mission:Ā  AllĀ IDEA teachersĀ are responsible for ensuring that every IDEA student mastersĀ the academic and social skills necessary to succeed in collegeĀ and beyond.Ā In addition, IDEA teachers set ambitious goals for student achievement and invest students and families in accomplishing them; create a powerful learning environment; plan and deliver purposeful, rigorous instruction; assess for mastery and track student progress toward goals; analyze data to intervene and adjust instruction; and seek excellence as an educator and an IDEA team member.

What We Offer

Compensation:Ā 

  • The starting teacher salary forĀ 0 years of experienceĀ isĀ $51,500,Ā withĀ increased compensation commensurate with experience and advanced degree attainment.Ā This role is eligible for various stipends based on certifications, credentials, and campus leadership ranging from $500-$4,000 each.Ā For more information about our compensation and total rewards, visit ourĀ compensation and benefitsĀ page.
  • Additional hourly compensation is provided forĀ leading approvedĀ after-schoolĀ tutoring or Saturday schoolĀ if applicable.

  • Paid Family Leave:Ā Eligible staff may receive up to 8 weeks of paid leave for the birth or adoption of a child, based on their tenure with the organization and caregiver designation.
  • Tuition Reimbursement:Ā Staff members may apply for up to​ 50% of tuition paid toward a qualifying degree program, up to $5,250 maximum per year subject to manager discretion and budget availability.
  • Employer-Paid Mental/Behavioral Health:Ā 5 face-to-face counseling sessions within a year, unlimited 24/7 telephonic counseling, and other work-life services available at no cost.

What You Bring -- Competencies

Qualifications:

  • High level of content-area proficiency as evidenced by teaching certification, field of study, or work-experience
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution required
  • Experience: Experience in a K-12 classroom setting strongly preferredĀ 
  • Licenses or Certifications:Ā ExistingĀ Ohio professionalĀ teacherĀ certification preferred but not required. Non-traditional candidatesĀ can receive support applying for alternativeĀ educator licensureĀ and/or long-term substitute licensure with noĀ impact on compensation orĀ benefitsĀ eligibilityĀ in the role.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement state learning standards and IDEA curricula and assessments to meet ambitious academic expectations
  • Learn, master, and deliver relevant content and grade-level curriculum, core content objectives and texts
  • Submit weeklyĀ contentĀ plansĀ for feedback
  • Receive and respondĀ professionally toĀ feedback aligned toĀ theĀ Guideposts for Excellent Teaching,Ā IDEA’sĀ rubric defining best practices related toĀ lesson preparationĀ andĀ execution,Ā culture,Ā responsivenessĀ to studentĀ data,Ā andĀ professionalism beyond the classroom
  • Maintain aĀ ā€œCommon Boardā€ configurationĀ that highlights key components of your dailyĀ lesson(s)
  • ImplementĀ formativeĀ andĀ summativeĀ assessments to track each individual student’s progress and learning needs, adjustĀ contentĀ plans accordingly,Ā and update gradebook weekly
  • Communicate students’ progress with studentsĀ andĀ familiesĀ on a weekly basis
  • Effective facilitation and personal use of technology as a communication and educational tool to improve student achievement and manage work-related tasks
  • Execute classroom-levelĀ implementation ofĀ the school’sĀ clear and consistent behavior management system that developsĀ students’ character and sense of community in the classroom
  • Lead the classroom-level implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems ofĀ Support, identifyingĀ and documentingĀ student learning and conduct needs,Ā documentingĀ evidence-based interventions, analyzing student data, and collaborating with the school-level MTSS Team to support students’ growth and development.
  • ReportĀ studentĀ learningĀ trends via school-level mechanisms including: Exit TicketĀ Trackers, DataĀ Huddles,Ā Data Boards,Ā and Student Work Analysis Meetings.
  • Help shape andĀ supportĀ a school-wide culture that fosters a productive and enthusiastic learning environment for each student
  • Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with students and families based on trust, understanding and respect for the communities in which they identify
  • Participate in weeklyĀ 30-minuteĀ manager check-insĀ (with Principal or Assistant Principal), grade-level meetings, before and after-school duties,Ā weekly professional developmentĀ and school-wide meetings and functions
  • Engage in summer and year-long district, school and personal learning and development
  • LeadĀ parent-teacher conferencesĀ duringĀ designated times that may include additionalĀ after-schoolĀ time commitments
  • SupportĀ student health and nutritionĀ by tracking compliance with classroom participation inĀ IDEA Greater Cincinnati’sĀ universalĀ ā€œSupperā€ andĀ breakfast programs,Ā as applicable
  • Expect a minimum of 40+ hours spent at school per week
  • Additional responsibilities may include: after-school tutoring or Saturday schoolĀ opportunitiesĀ based on the needs of our scholarsĀ (withĀ the opportunity to earnĀ additional compensation). Teachers are encouraged to volunteer atĀ twoĀ student engagement andĀ twoĀ student recruitment events annually.
