Dinsmore is seeking an Assistant Billing Manager at its Cincinnati, OH location.
The Assistant Billing Manager plays a vital role in overseeing the firm's billing operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to established standards. This position entails providing high-level support, conducting thorough billing research, and maintaining compliance with service protocols. The Assistant Billing Manager is responsible for monitoring billing reports, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining detailed documentation to optimize processes. Additionally, they assist with the recruitment, onboarding, and continuous development of billers, ensuring alignment with policy requirements. The Assistant Billing Manager also assists with process improvements and system implementations to enhance the overall performance and effectiveness of the billing department.
The ideal candidate has strong law firm billing experience, advanced knowledge of legal billing software and familiarity with electronic billing platforms, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple billing deadlines in a fast-paced professional services environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with oversight of the daily operations of the billing department, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing to clients
- Supervise billing staff and provide guidance and training opportunities as needed
- Monitor and manage the monthly billing cycle, including time entry reviews, pre-bill edits, final bill generation
- Oversee month-end and year-end billing processes
- Review of Client billing guidelines and communicate applicable requirements
- Ensure compliance with client billing guidelines
- Work closely with attorneys and legal staff to resolve billing discrepancies and address client inquiries
- Generate and analyze billing reports to track productivity, aged receivables, and other key metrics
- Assist with implementing process improvements to enhance billing efficiency and accuracy
- Assist with testing, upgrades, system implementations, and enhancements related to billing and financial systems
- Coordinate with the accounting team on billing, collections and revenue tracking
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive billing data with integrity
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 2+ years of managing billing functions
- Supervisory or team leadership experience
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to interact professionally with attorneys, staff, and clients
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
