Role Mission: IDEA Special Education Teachers / Intervention Specialists are responsible for the achievement and support of students identified as having exceptionalities and learning differences. Intervention Specialists develop individualized plans and work with students who have a wide range of learning, cognitive, emotional, and physical disabilities. They provide in-class support for various subjects, such as reading, writing, and math, to students with outlined service minutes support. Informed by the needs of students and the accommodations and supports outlined in each respective IEP, IDEA Intervention Specialists create the crucial bridge between home and school for our exceptional students and their families.

- Additional hourly compensation is provided forĀ leading approvedĀ after-schoolĀ tutoring or Saturday schoolĀ if applicable.

Qualifications:
- High level of content-area proficiency as evidenced by teaching certification, field of study, or work-experience
- Education: Bachelorās Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution required
- Experience: Experience in a K-12 classroom setting strongly preferredĀ
- Licenses or Certifications:Ā ExistingĀ Ohio professionalĀ Intervention SpecialistĀ certification required

What Youāll Do --Ā Accountabilities
Ā
- Adapt lessons to meet the needs of students.
- Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for a caseload of students
- Implement IEPs, assess studentsā performance, and track their progress
- Update IEPs throughout the school year to reflect studentsā progress and goals
- Assess studentsā skills to determine their needs and to develop teaching plans
- Teach small groups consisting of students that are academically at risk in reading and/or math to include students in general education, 504, response-to-intervention, Special Education and Emergent Bilingual students.
- Provide dyslexia instruction as the PDI (Provider of Dyslexia Instruction)
- Collect and analyze student data in order to make effective decisions to maximize achievement
- Discuss studentās progress with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators
- Prepare and help students transition from grade to grade and after graduation
- ImplementĀ state learning standards and IDEAĀ curricula and assessments to meet ambitious academic expectations
- Receive and respond professionally to feedback aligned to the Guideposts for Excellent Teaching, IDEAās rubric defining best practices related to lesson preparation and execution, culture, responsiveness to student data, and professionalism beyond the classroom
- Maintain a āCommon Boardā configuration that highlights key components of your daily lesson(s)
- Implement formative and summative assessments to track each individual studentās progress and learning needs, adjust content plans accordingly, and update gradebook weekly
- Communicate studentsā progress with students and families on a weekly basis
- Effective facilitation and personal use of technology as a communication and educational tool to improve student achievement and manage work-related tasks
- Execute classroom-level implementation of the schoolās clear and consistent behavior management system that develops studentsā character and sense of community in the classroom
- Lead the classroom-level implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, identifying and documenting student learning and conduct needs, documenting evidence-based interventions, analyzing student data, and collaborating with the school-level MTSS Team to support studentsā growth and development.
- Report student learning trends via school-level mechanisms including: Exit Ticket Trackers, Data Huddles, Data Boards, and Student Work Analysis Meetings.
- Help shape and support a school-wide culture that fosters a productive and enthusiastic learning environment for each student
- Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with students and families based on trust, understanding and respect for the communities in which they identify
- Participate in weekly 30-minute manager check-ins (with Principal or Assistant Principal), grade-level meetings, before and after-school duties, weekly professional development and school-wide meetings and functions
- Engage in summer and year-long district, school and personal learning and development
- Lead parent-teacher conferences during designated times that may include additional after-school time commitments
- Support student health and nutrition by tracking compliance with classroom participation in IDEA Greater Cincinnatiās universal āSupperā and breakfast programs, as applicable
- Expect a minimum of 40+ hours spent at school per week
- Additional responsibilities may include: after-school tutoring or Saturday school opportunities based on the needs of our scholars (with the opportunity to earn additional compensation). Teachers are encouraged to volunteer at two student engagement and two student recruitment events annually.
