Overview

Note: This is an ongoing posting for adjunct faculty through Workforce Solutions. Candidates will be contacted at an as needed basis when opportunities arise. Adjunct Faculty positions are for specific classes only and do not imply any availability of full-time employment.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the administration and instruction efforts of the floor-covering training program for Workforce Solutions. The applicant must possess flooring installation knowledge and experience to teach program-specific content in-person and online using an established curriculum. In addition, the applicant is expected to prepare materials needed for course instruction and facilitate a focused and engaging learning environment that fosters student growth and increased skill performance.

 

The primary areas of focus include carpeting, hardwood, resilient, and tile flooring. Candidates should have knowledge and experience in each discipline. 

 

Provide an exceptional customer service experience to both internal and external customers throughout every interaction.

  • Teach program-specific content in-person and online using established curriculum.
  • Prepare materials needed for course instruction, labs, and testing.
  • Create a focused and engaged learning environment.
  • Encourage student performance and growth of skills.
  • Support the academic success of the students.
  • Prepare students for a career in the floor-covering industry.
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Relates instruction and material course objectives to real-world, industry-specific examples.
  • Submits grades, attendance, reports, and records on time.
  • Ensuring safety and security requirements are adhered to in training areas.
  • Maintaining program certification requirements, as appropriate.
  • Utilizing customer relation management software to organize and manage activity, contacts, and files, as well as oversee data collection and program management processes.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of three years of floor covering installation experience is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
•    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.
•    The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. 
•    The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
•    The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 
•    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
•    Work environment may require multi-tasking.  
•    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

 

CONDITION(S) OF EMPLOYMENT:

•    Employment is conditional on completion of a Background Information Disclosure (BID) with the results acceptable to the college.

•    Dependent upon position, employment is conditional on completion of a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check with the results acceptable to the college.

•    Must meet and maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System (FQAS) requirements within 5 years of employment.
