The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting in the preparation and service of meals to residents in accordance with physician orders, facility policies, and federal and state regulations. This role supports the Dietary Department in providing nutritious meals while maintaining high standards of food safety, sanitation, and customer service in a skilled nursing facility environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with meal preparation and portioning according to standardized recipes and dietary guidelines
Prepare and deliver meal trays in accordance with resident diet orders
Set up and clean dining areas before and after meals
Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment following sanitation standards
Label, date, and properly store food items
Follow infection control, food safety, and sanitation procedures
Interact respectfully and courteously with residents and staff
Report any dietary concerns or changes in resident intake to the Dietary Supervisor
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Previous food service experience in healthcare or long-term care preferred
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25–40 lbs
