Location:  Coatesville, PA

Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opening for a Shift Manager Maintenance (Electrical).  The Shift Manager plays a critical role coordinating daily activities in the operation on site.  This role will also oversee specialized trade crews responsible for maintaining critical plant-wide electrical, control, and power distribution systems.  We are seeking a hands-on technical leader who thrives on complex troubleshooting, can serve as an escalation point during critical plant outages, and holds an unyielding commitment to workplace safety in high-hazard electrical environments.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise specialized craft technicians and shop personnel across High Voltage, Industrial Electronics, Motor Repair, and Plant HVAC/Combustion groups.
  • Serve as the primary technical subject matter expert and escalation authority during unexpected downtime events and scheduled major plant outages.
  • Oversee operations, routine maintenance, and switching for medium- and high-voltage substations up to 138kV, as well as major plant distribution feeders.
  • Guide diagnostics and repairs on 5,000+HP mill drive motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), PLC architecture, HMIs, crane remote systems, and process instrumentation.
  • Enforce strict adherence to NFPA 70E standards, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, arc-flash boundary rules, and high-voltage safety procedures to ensure zero-incident operations
  • Coach and upskill craftspeople, ensuring team members have the tools, training, and technical guidance required for high-precision trade work.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Supervisory experience in manufacturing or heavy industry
  • Electrical/Electronics experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) with 3+ years of hands-on troubleshooting experience in heavy manufacturing or heavy industry.
  • Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronics Technology, completion of a recognized industrial electrical apprenticeship, or equivalent trade school degree.
  • 5+ years of hands-on industrial electrical/electronics troubleshooting experience, with at least 2+ years in a supervisory or frontline management role.
  • Strong operational knowledge of NFPA 70E, high-voltage switching protocols, and medium/high-voltage substation safety
  • Background in heavy manufacturing, metals/steel processing, power generation, chemical processing, heavy paper/pulp, or military electrical power distribution
  • Hands-on familiarity with industrial combustion systems, motor shop/rewind operations, or overhead crane radio controls
