Position Title: Construction & Maintenance Worker

Position Summary

The Construction & Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing general construction, maintenance, repair, installation, and facility support duties throughout Hagadone Marine Group properties and events. This position requires a hands-on individual who is dependable, mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.

A significant responsibility of this position will be assisting with the setup, construction, maintenance, operation support, and takedown of the Journey to the North Pole Christmas scene and related holiday displays. The position will require working outdoors, in varying weather conditions, and during evenings or weekends based on event and operational needs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Construction & Maintenance

  • Perform general construction, carpentry, painting, installation, and repair projects.
  • Build, assemble, install, modify, and dismantle structures, displays, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs to buildings, grounds, equipment, and facilities.
  • Assist with electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and other maintenance projects as directed and within the employee's qualifications.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, and other equipment safely and properly.
  • Identify maintenance issues and report safety hazards, needed repairs, or potential problems to management.
  • Assist with moving, loading, unloading, and transporting materials, equipment, furniture, displays, and supplies.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.

Journey to the North Pole / Holiday Event

  • Assist with the construction and setup of the Journey to the North Pole Christmas scene.
  • Assemble, install, and position holiday displays, structures, props, lighting, decorations, and other event components.
  • Assist with preparing the site and ensuring all displays are secure, functional, and visually presentable.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance to the Christmas scene and displays throughout the event season.
  • Troubleshoot and address maintenance issues that arise during the event.
  • Assist with daily or periodic inspections of the event area for safety and maintenance concerns.
  • Assist with the breakdown, removal, storage, and organization of all Journey to the North Pole displays, props, equipment, and materials following the event.
  • Properly label, organize, and store reusable holiday equipment and decorations for future seasons.
  • Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed to support the event.

General Responsibilities

  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements.
  • Properly operate and maintain company tools, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used when required.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, vendors, and other departments.
  • Assist other departments with maintenance, construction, special projects, and events as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Preferred:

  • Carpentry or construction experience.
  • General maintenance experience.
  • Experience working with event installations, holiday displays, or themed attractions.
  • Experience operating forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, or other equipment.
  • Experience with basic electrical troubleshooting and lighting installation.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and work in various positions.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to work from ladders, lifts, and elevated work areas.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
  • Must be able to safely perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
