Job DetailsJob Location: Palmyra , PA 17078Salary Range: $20.00 HourlyAvailable Shifts: Full-time, 3 pm to 11:30 pm, every other weekend and holiday; PRN also available About the Position The Safety Officer is responsible for performing general security tasks, such as responding to emergency situations and monitoring buildings and safety systems, including controlling access to buildings and Londonderry Village Property. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Monitors access to Main Building and authorizes entrance and departure of residents, employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain safety and security of the premises. Patrols campus buildings and grounds to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensures security of residents and staff by checking doors, windows, and gates. Documents, per established procedures, any property damage or other unusual occurrences encountered during their shift. Communicates details to the Maintenance Director and other appropriate management team members. Performs telephone operator duties as needed after hours and on weekends. Provides support and general assistance to residents as needed including performing welfare checks on residents when warranted. Acts as a first respondent in an emergency and on IL resident calls including the use of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first-aid techniques. During patrol, monitors and resets controls that regulate building systems such as air conditioning and furnace and boiler as required. Ensures safety of all areas of the community to include storage areas, boiler rooms, etc., and reports or responds to any hazard or maintenance incident. Responds to nurse call system and door and fire alarms according to established procedures. Performs basic maintenance and housekeeping tasks as needed. Participates in hazmat clean-up as needed. Investigates accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, safety and fire hazards and other security related situations. Writes report on each incident/situation according to established procedure. Performs compliance and safety inspections and documents readings and/or findings as required. Responds to incidents of power failure on campus and initiates corrective action. Provides assistance to law enforcement, fire, and/or emergency medical personnel on campus as needed. Responds quickly in emergency or urgent situations. Follows all standard procedures, including use of personal protective equipment, when dealing with situations that involve potential exposure to biohazards and cleaning chemicals/products. Uses active listening skills and maintains effective communication with all constituents. Builds and maintains effective working relationships with all constituents. Adheres to the highest ethical standards and maintains confidentiality and integrity in all interactions. Brings a focused, calming influence to crisis situations. Uses observation and problem solving skills to resolve issues. Maintains mental alertness and pays attention to detail while setting priorities, handling incidents/situations, and following up on assignments. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum of one year of experience in a security/safety position or allied field. Familiarity with the use of emergency response systems. Basic knowledge of computer systems with the ability to be trained on the medical alert system. Ability to effectively communicate using oral and written English. Ability to deal with end of life issues. Valid PA Driver's License. Current First Aide and CPR Certification or ability to obtain. Must follow all universal precautions procedures, including use of personal protective equipment, due to potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
