Job Summary
The Property Accountant is responsible for satisfying all aspects of accounting within a specific portfolio of properties. This position reports to the Property Controller and works directly with Regional and Property Management to analyze property results and performance.Â
Essential Job Functions
- Models and instills company mission and valuesÂ
- Monthly closing of financial ledgersÂ
- Completes timely bank reconciliationsÂ
- Reviews and analyzes ledger accountsÂ
- Reviews budgets and plans forecastingÂ
- Submits quarterly reporting to State AgenciesÂ
- Completes financial reporting packageÂ
- Addresses and resolves audit requestsÂ
- Responds to inquiries from regional and property managersÂ
- Other duties as assignedÂ
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or FinanceÂ
- Minimum of 5 years of property accounting experienceÂ
- Working knowledge of Yardi or other property accounting softwareÂ
- Understanding of state agency reportingÂ
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applicationsÂ
- Understanding of tenant rent activities, including collectionsÂ
- Strong financial acumen and critical thinking skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsÂ
- Ability to interpret data and recommend performance-enhancing actionsÂ
- Knowledge of capital expenditures and qualifications for reserve accountsÂ
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, action-oriented environmentÂ
- Ability to establish relationships across the organization and at various hierarchical levelsÂ
