Position Purpose 

Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Strategic Communications, the Social Media Assistant supports the management of social media channels to identify and create content focused on student activities, student life, and student education at California University of Science and Medicine. 

Essential Function 

  • Identify and create content focused on student activities in the University. 
  • Work closely with Executive Director of Strategic Communications to support content calendar management, utilize social engagement platforms, and build appropriate content.
  • Support technical management of university channels and management platforms.
  • Utilize social media management platforms to create, post, and manage engagement, as necessary.
  • Other Duties as Assigned.

Required Educational Qualifications  

  • Enrollment as a current CUSM MD student (M1).
  • Must be in good academic standing.

Skills and Abilities 

  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of University brand to support content development focused on brand building.
  • Expert knowledge of social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, X(Twitter), Threads, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.
  • Ability to utilize social media engagement platforms to post and manage content.
  • Ability to capture quality photos and video. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience in higher education, medical education, or university environment.

Items Used 

Must have access to smartphone for content capture and posting. The university will provide a camera and related tools for content creation support. Must be willing to use personal technology devices (laptop, smartphone, camera, tablet, etc.) to perform job requirements.
