Union Status: Bargaining Unit Position   FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-exempt  About the Role The Medical Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients and plays an important role in creating a respectful, efficient, and welcoming health center experience. This position helps patients access care through accurate registration, scheduling, payment processing, and administrative support. The Medical Receptionist works closely with clinical, billing, and operational teams to support patient flow and revenue cycle processes. This is an administrative and customer-service position and does not provide clinical care or assist with medical procedures. The ideal candidate communicates clearly, stays organized, protects sensitive information, and provides compassionate, nonjudgmental service to patients from different backgrounds and lived experiences. Help patients navigate registration, appointment scheduling, forms, payment information, and other administrative steps. Provide general information about services and connect clinical questions with the appropriate licensed team member. Accurately enter and maintain patient, insurance, funding, and appointment information. Explain applicable fees, collect payments, and support accurate daily financial reconciliation. Work closely with clinical, billing, and operational teams to support efficient patient flow and resolve administrative concerns. Protect confidential information and approach sensitive matters with professionalism, compassion, and without judgment. Use electronic health record, scheduling, and billing systems to support an organized and efficient health center experience. Qualifications and BenefitsRequired Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to provide respectful, compassionate, and nonjudgmental patient service. Ability to exercise sound judgment, manage competing priorities, and work independently. Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information. Ability to analyze information, identify issues, and follow established procedures. Comfort using technology and the ability to learn registration, scheduling, billing, and electronic health record systems. Ability to work effectively with people from different socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. Availability to work evenings and Saturdays based on health center needs. Commitment to Planned Parenthood’s mission, values, and service standards. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a medical office, customer-service, reception, or administrative position. Experience in healthcare, social services, or a community-based organization. Experience using an electronic health record, scheduling system, or billing platform. Fluency in Spanish, Nepali, Somali, or another language needed within the position’s service area.
