Long Distance Driver Local

JOB TITLE:          Local Long Distance Driver 

DEPARTMENT:    Logistics

FLSA STATUS:    Non-Exempt 

SUMMARY:

Reporting directly to the Traffic Manager, the Local Long Distance Driver transports finished furniture goods over the road to LEE customers, LEE plant locations and/or distribution centers.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Safe and Efficient Trailer Movement: Maneuver semi-trailers within the yard and plants ensuring smooth and safe operations.
  1. Move trailers between warehouses and other locations.
  2. Position trailers at dock doors for loading and unloading.
• Straight truck driving required as needed and over the road trips will be required as needed.
• Conduct routine inspections of the tractor and trailers to ensure safe operating conditions.
• Communicate effectively with other drivers and warehouse personnel to coordinate activities.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
• Assist with loading and unloading trailers
• Required to work in the warehouse and showroom as needed
• Manage trailer inventory locations
• All other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES

• 3 to 5 years' experience required
• A valid CDL driver's license and a clean driving record required
• Ability to maneuver large vehicles in tight spaces.
• Keen eye for detail in inspecting equipment and ensuring safety.
• Ability to perform tasks that involve lifting and moving
• Ability to address issues that may arise and communicate effectively with others.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and work in a fast-paced environment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Ability to work full-time

EFFORT

• Able to lift, carry, push or pull at least 50 lbs
• Ability to sit for extended period of time (8-12 hours)
• Able to drive long hours and travel regularly (8-12 hours)
• Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, or crouching
• Must meet DOT standards for vision and hearing, including the ability to read road signs, navigate GPS, and hear warning signals.
• Compliance with DOT physical examination requirements
