Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Safety Representative to join our team. As a Safety Representative, you will be responsible for promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with OSHA and company safety standards, and helping maintain a safe working environment on construction projects. This position requires a proactive individual who can identify hazards, provide safety training, and work collaboratively with project teams to prevent workplace incidents. A strong emphasis will be placed on individuals with a positive attitude, proactive approach and leadership skills to support our culture of safety, accountability and trust.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections and audits. Including travel in and out of state.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Identify workplace hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and new employee orientations.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and prepare detailed reports.
- Maintain safety documentation, records, and compliance reports.
- Monitor subcontractor safety performance and ensure adherence to project safety requirements.
- Assist project managers and superintendents in developing site-specific safety plans.
- Coordinate emergency response procedures and drills.
- Promote a positive safety culture through employee engagement and continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of construction safety experience.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification, Confined Space Competent Person, Trench & Excavation Competent Person & OSHA 500 or CHST certifications are preferred.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Strong organizational and documentation abilities.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
- Valid driver's license.
- Willingness and ability to travel, including some overnight travel.
