Join us as a Regional Design Engineering Manager in our West Region. The Design Engineering ManagerĀ manages the design engineering resources of a region to meet that region’s projectĀ needs, engineeringĀ requests and requirements, andĀ business goals.Ā  The DEM is the point of contact, communication, andĀ interface betweenĀ designĀ engineeringĀ and the internal business partners of sales, project development, and constructionĀ management teams. TheyĀ are responsible forĀ planning, executing, and closing engineering projects, ensuring that they meet technical specifications, quality standards, and deadlines.Ā

What will you do?

  • Administer the internal and external designĀ engineeringĀ resourcesĀ for the development, design,Ā and construction phases of energyĀ conservation and facility infrastructure improvement projects.Ā Ā 
    • Assign and monitor the regionalĀ designĀ engineeringĀ staff to projectsĀ 
    • ContractĀ engineering sub-consultantsĀ forĀ the development, design, construction document preparation, and construction administration services for projects.Ā Ā 
    • MaintainĀ qualityĀ control for allĀ projectsĀ 
  • Collaborate with allĀ regionalĀ sales, project development, construction, and operational leadersĀ on the development, procurement, execution, and implementationĀ strategiesĀ and proceduresĀ for regional projects.Ā Ā 
    • Manage resource management plan of current and forecasted workĀ inĀ alignment with business partners.Ā Ā 
    • Develop and maintain project plan to ensure scope, schedule, and budget correspond with team expectations.Ā Ā 
    • Manage current and historical data to evaluate need for change or results from changeĀ 
    • Manage utilization and resource allocation to achieve success on projectsĀ 
    • Collaborate with Sales Team to provide resources to assist with Sales Strategy and deliver high quality projects and supportĀ 
    • Review and Approve Project Strategy Plans and BudgetsĀ 
    • Review Project procurement strategies, scope development, project financials, process, risk and quality to build the most successful project for our customer and our company.Ā 
    • Communicate with and from the operations and construction to address issues and update best practices.Ā Ā 
  • Lead the Design EngineeringĀ staffĀ forĀ the region including:Ā 
    • Facilitate the development of individual performance, development, career path, and training goals.Ā 
    • Supervise and evaluate individual staff members.Ā 
    • Communicate corporate policies and directivesĀ Ā 
    • Manage all HR process includingĀ reviews, performance evaluations, raises, promotions, personal improvement plans,Ā expenses, timecards, PTO, etc.Ā 
  • Provide technical leadership to the regional engineering staffĀ

  • Four-year Mechanical,Ā ElectricalĀ orĀ Architectural Engineering degreeĀ Ā 
  • Professional Engineer registration (mechanical discipline)Ā Ā 
  • MinimumĀ 10Ā years relevant work experienceĀ Ā 
  • Advanced understanding of mechanical building systems and energy useĀ for a variety of building types including K-12 schools, university facilities and housing, correctional facilities, medical facilities, etc.Ā 
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills including, but not limited to, the ability to listen effectively and solicit input from othersĀ Ā 
  • Advanced understanding of the design, specification and operation of HVAC systems and equipment.Ā Ā 
  • Proficiency withĀ mechanical or electricalĀ engineering calculationsĀ and related industry standardsĀ 
  • Advanced understanding of International Building CouncilĀ codesĀ andĀ applicable area codes.Ā

For this U.S. based position, the expected pay range is USD 142,400 - USD 213,600 per year. This pay range includes base pay and short-term incentives. The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our pay ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the pay range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
