Coushatta Forest Products is looking for several Electricians to join our team in Coushatta, Louisiana. As an Electrician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems across residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Electrician expertise will contribute to the reliable distribution of electrical power, supporting the infrastructure that powers homes, businesses, and public facilities. Electricians will be responsible for interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications to execute electrical work that meets all safety codes and standards. This role demands a strong commitment to quality workmanship and adherence to safety protocols to prevent hazards and ensure system longevity. 



Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience as an industrial electrician, preferably in a sawmill, manufacturing, or similar setting
  • Completion of an accredited electrician apprenticeship program or equivalent hands-on experience(preferred)
  • Proven experience with electrical wiring, power distribution, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and OSHA safety standards


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional certifications such as OSHA 30-hour, NFPA 70E, or specialized training in switchgear and commercial wiring
  • Experience working on large-scale commercial or industrial electrical projects
  • Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and automated control systems
  • Ability to read and interpret advanced electrical schematics and blueprints
  • Strong communication skills and experience working collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams


Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in accordance with relevant codes and safety standards
  • Diagnose and fix electrical faults in PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), AC/DC drives, sensors, and motor control centers under tight production deadlines
  • Wire new sawmill machinery, conveyors, pneumatic systems, and lighting networks according to blueprints and electrical codes
  • Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), NFPA 70E, and OSHA regulations while working in heavy industrial or outdoor conditions
  • Recommend and implement upgrades to improve electrical systems and processes
  • Keep detailed records of all maintenance and repair work
  • Conduct routine inspections of wiring, panels, transformers, and automated optimization scanners to prevent unexpected mill stoppages
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and specifications to plan electrical installations and troubleshoot issues
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve malfunctions in power distribution and control systems
  • Pull wire and install switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, and other electrical components in commercial and industrial environments
  • Balance electrical loads to optimize system performance and prevent overloads or failures
  • Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and other tradespeople to coordinate electrical work within larger construction or maintenance projects
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure electrical systems operate safely and efficiently
  • Document work performed, including materials used, time spent, and any issues encountered, to maintain accurate records

The required skills such as electrical wiring, pulling wire, and power distribution are essential for installing and maintaining complex electrical systems safely and effectively. Balancing electrical loads and working with switchgear ensures that power systems operate reliably without interruption or damage. Electrical troubleshooting skills are used daily to quickly identify and resolve faults, minimizing downtime and maintaining safety. Commercial wiring expertise allows the electrician to handle large-scale projects that require precision and adherence to strict codes. Preferred skills like familiarity with PLCs and advanced schematics enhance the ability to work on modern, automated electrical systems, improving efficiency and expanding the scope of projects the electrician can undertake.

Hours of Work:

  • Various Schedules/Shifts needed including;  Night/Days/weekends and occasional overtime as needed

Work Environment Manufacturing Plant Physical Demands:

  • Outside Sawmill/Plant Location. Noise levels are moderate to high/low depending on the area of the mill and production
