The Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing medications and providing expert advice on the safe use of prescriptions to customers in a community or retail pharmacy setting. they ensure compliance with legal regulations, provide exceptional customer service, and often play a key role in health education and consultation.  Job Responsibilities: Medication Dispensing: Accurately fill and dispense prescriptions for patients. Verify the legality, dosage, and safety of prescriptions from healthcare providers. Ensure correct labeling and packaging of medications. Provide guidance on the proper use of prescription and over-the-counter medications. Offer advice on side effects, drug interactions, and general medication management. Answer health-related questions and provide consultations regarding minor ailments, wellness, and preventive healthcare. Ensure compliance with state and federal laws, including DEA regulations for controlled substances. Maintain accurate and detailed records of prescriptions, inventory, and customer data. Adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality. Assist customers in selecting appropriate OTC products based on their health conditions. Provide information on dietary supplements, vitamins, and other healthcare products. Monitor medication stock levels and place orders for new inventory. Handle controlled substances carefully, ensuring accurate counts and secure storage. Dispose of expired medications properly, in accordance with regulations. Communicate with physicians and other healthcare providers to clarify prescription orders and resolve any issues. Provide feedback on drug therapy, including possible alternatives or dosage adjustments. Supervise pharmacy technicians and interns, ensuring all duties are performed correctly. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy, ensuring efficiency and compliance with safety standards. Administer immunizations, such as flu shots, in compliance with state regulations. Provide blood pressure checks, cholesterol screenings, and other wellness services, if offered by the pharmacy. Provide excellent service by greeting customers, resolving complaints, and offering health information. Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure safety and a positive customer experience. Qualifications  Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited program. Licensure: Valid pharmacist license in the state of practice (Colorado, for example). Certification: Additional certifications such as immunization or disease state management may be required or preferred. Attention to Detail: Accuracy is essential in dispensing medications and managing records. Communication Skills: Ability to explain complex medical information to customers in an easy-to-understand way. Technical Skills: Familiarity with pharmacy software, prescription processing systems, and automated dispensing tools. Customer Service: Strong interpersonal skills for engaging with customers and resolving issues. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and perform tasks that require repetitive motions like counting pills and entering data. Shifts may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on store hours.
