Job Overview 

AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking qualified Central Sterile Supply Technicians to provide sterile processing services at Madigan Army Medical Center. The technician will process reusable medical devices and surgical instrumentation while following established infection-control, decontamination, sterilization, storage, safety, and quality-control procedures. 

The position requires careful attention to detail because improperly cleaned or sterilized equipment can create significant patient-safety and infection-control risks. 

Key Duties: 
 
  • Receive, disassemble, and inspect reusable medical devices and surgical instruments.  
  • Clean and decontaminate instruments by wiping, soaking, rinsing, scrubbing, and using ultrasonic/washer equipment.  
  • Inspect instruments after cleaning for contamination, damage, and proper function.  
  • Properly identify and label medical devices and surgical instruments.  
  • Assemble specialty surgical trays and instrument sets.  
  • Select proper packaging and sterilization methods, including Steam and Ethylene Oxide (ETO).  
  • Wrap, seal, label, and prepare instruments with appropriate chemical indicators.  
  • Inspect sterilized items for proper sterilization indicators, package integrity, and moisture.  
  • Stock and properly store sterile instruments and supplies.  
  • Handle regulated medical waste, general waste, and soiled linen.  
  • Follow OSHA PPE requirements and MTF infection-control and safety procedures. 
Qualifications:

Education: Certificate; completion of a central sterile supply training course. The PWS allows an equivalency determination request for the education requirement. 

Experience: 1 year of experience within the last 2 years as a Central Sterile Supply Technician. 

Certification: Current certification from either: 

  • International Association of Healthcare Central Services Materials Management, or  
  • National Institute of Health Care Sterile Processing and Distribution Personnel.  
BLS: Active BLS Required

Full Schedule:
This position works rotating 8-, 10-, and 12-hour shifts in a 24/7 medical facility. Actual schedules are determined by the Government based on mission requirements.  

  • Day:  
    6:45 AM–3:15 PM;  
    8:45 AM–5:15 PM;  
    10:45 AM–7:15 PM;  
    6:45 AM–5:15 PM;  
    6:45 AM–7:15 PM  
  • Evening: 2:45 PM–11:15 PM  
  • Night:  
    10:45 PM–7:15 AM; 
    6:45 PM–7:15 AM  
  • Weekend Day: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM  
  • Weekend Night: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM  
  • On-Call: None  
  • Federal Holidays: May be required/worked based on Government scheduling.  
  • Work Location: 100% on-site; no telework.  
  • Status: Emergency/mission essential. 
A 30-minute unpaid mandatory meal break is included during scheduled shifts.

Occupational Health / Immunization Requirements:
Personnel must satisfy applicable MTF occupational-health requirements, including required physical examination/testing, TB screening, immunizations, and annual vaccinations, as applicable to placement and continued performance.

Security Requirements:
Personnel must meet applicable Government background, installation-access, identification, information-security, and security-training requirements. When applicable, personnel must satisfy requirements associated with obtaining and maintaining Government system or facility access.
