Business Applications Advisor

The Business Applications Advisor interacts with business partners and IT staff to gather and document information related to requirements and software testing. This role independently sorts medium to high complexity business issues to recommend appropriate direction, frequently leads large project efforts, and mentors less senior team members.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Sterling WMS β€” Support, configure, and troubleshoot warehouse workflows and integrations across receiving, picking, replenishment, and shipping, using log/agent/failed-transaction analysis to drive root-cause resolution and process optimization.
  • OMS β€” Configure and support sourcing, allocation, order routing, and exception-handling rules across the full order lifecycle, partnering with business teams to optimize orchestration and integration with WMS, TMS, ERP, and customer systems.
  • TMS β€” Configure and maintain carrier selection, rate management, tendering, and shipment execution workflows, and troubleshoot transportation exceptions using shipment data to improve delivery performance and reduce cost.
  • Analytics & Reporting β€” Build interactive Spotfire and Power BI dashboards (DAX, advanced modeling, automation) for KPI tracking and executive reporting, validating data accuracy across WMS, OMS, TMS, and enterprise sources while collaborating with business users on self-service analytics.
  • Hands-on configuration of Manhattan WMOS WMS systems.
  • Participate in all phases of implementation and production support of multi-technology, business-critical systems.
  • Gather requirements and design accurate, efficient solutions.
  • Analyze and reengineer repetitive failed processes to reduce risk.
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure accurate understanding of solutions and minimize rework.
  • Maintain knowledge of interface specifications and configuration options.
  • Document requirements and solutions according to the business SDLC process.
  • Support transition of new customer and development projects into daily operations.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with coworkers, business partners, customers, and vendors.
  • Stay current on warehouse execution technologies, capabilities, and trends.
  • Create presentations, scorecards, and reports using Excel.
  • Follow change control methodology in daily activities.
  • Develop and update strategies, methodologies, and standards for supply chain systems.
  • Provide 24/7/365 coverage as needed via on-call rotation.
  • Travel for projects as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience supporting or implementing Manhattan WMOS WMS systems preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to ensure business operations meet contractual service level agreements.
  • Ability to work effectively in distributed teams with clear communication and proactive status updates.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both technical and operational.
  • Knowledge of UNIX/Linux servers and Oracle relational databases is a plus.
  • Outgoing, action-oriented self-starter who thrives in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong proficiency in Oracle SQL for application development.
