Job Description

At DPR, roles and responsibilities are more than describing a job title—they are a commitment to building great things together. The job description(s) below defines core responsibilities and the scope of the role and is a starting point. Every employee is expected to lead from where they are, take ownership of outcomes, and always act in the best interest of the team, customer, project and organization.

As a purpose-driven organization on a journey to be most admired, we rely on trust, shared leadership, open communication, disciplined action and a deep respect for the individual to drive exceptional performance. Success is not just about what we build, but who we build and how we build it: with integrity, enjoyment, uniqueness and an ever-forward mindset.

Job Summary:
Delivers accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for prefabrication projects, supporting planning, budgeting, and execution of manufacturing and installation activities. Applies advanced analytical and technical skills to assess project scope, production efficiency, and material costs. Works collaboratively with project managers, design teams, and production leads, VDC, MEP and Family of Companies to ensure cost estimates reflect real-time manufacturing conditions and project goals. Contributes to continuous improvement of prefab estimating tools and methods to enhance accuracy and predictability.

Key Responsibilities:
Prepares detailed cost estimates and takeoffs for prefabricated components, systems, and assemblies based on design documents and production data, manufacturing inputs, material usage, labor projections, and relevant market conditions, and contributes sections of conceptual, schematic, and detailed budgets specific to prefabrication scopes.
Reviews project scope, drawings, and fabrication models to ensure completeness, accuracy, and alignment with production capabilities, and identifies risks and uncertainties related to tolerances, staging, lifting, transportation, and field tie-ins for incorporation into estimating assumptions.
Coordinates with production and engineering teams to validate labor, equipment, and material requirements, and works with estimators and design partners to ensure prefab pricing reflects actual means, methods, and sequencing.
Evaluates supplier and subcontractor bids for prefabricated components and services, ensuring scope and pricing alignment.
Participates in value engineering, proposing cost-effective materials, methods, and manufacturing alternatives.
Supports the creation and maintenance of historical cost data and pricing benchmarks specific to prefabrication operations.
Collaborates with production controls and process engineering to incorporate production rates into estimates and supports project handoff by preparing budget load information and procurement recommendations, and provides guidance to Senior Preconstruction Engineers as they develop estimating capability.

Education Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field, or equivalent experience required.

Work Experience:
4–6 years of experience in estimating, cost analysis, or preconstruction for prefabrication, modular, or construction projects required.

Certifications and Licenses:
None required.
