Mission Critical Interior Solutions (MCIS) is seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial and mission critical construction projects. The Estimator will analyze project documents, perform detailed quantity takeoffs, develop complete project budgets, and collaborate closely with operations, procurement, and business development teams to support successful project pursuits and execution.
This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to identify project risks, opportunities, and value engineering solutions.
What You’ll Do
- Review drawings, specifications, bid documents, contracts, and scope requirements to ensure a complete understanding of project objectives.
- Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs for labor, material, equipment, and subcontracted work.
- Develop detailed conceptual, budgetary, and hard bid estimates in accordance with company standards.
- Solicit, evaluate, and level vendor and subcontractor proposals to ensure scope completeness and competitive pricing.
- Identify scope gaps, inconsistencies, and potential project risks and communicate findings to leadership.
- Prepare bid summaries, pricing analyses, proposals, and supporting documentation for management review.
- Coordinate and participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and internal estimating reviews.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Operations teams to ensure successful project handoff and alignment of project assumptions.
- Assist in developing schedules, logistics considerations, and constructability reviews during the preconstruction phase.
- Identify and recommend value engineering opportunities that improve project cost, schedule, or quality.
- Maintain estimating databases, cost histories, vendor relationships, and market pricing intelligence.
- Prepare and maintain bid clarifications, exclusions, assumptions, and scope qualifications to support complete and accurate proposal submissions.
- Ensure estimates are completed accurately and submitted within established deadlines.
- Support business development efforts by providing timely budget pricing and project cost assessments.
- Lead or support estimate-to-operations handoff meetings, including review of scope, assumptions, inclusions, exclusions, production rates, buyout considerations, and identified project risks.
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years of estimating experience in data center construction, mechanical integration, or technical sales/solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, bid tabs, cost comparisons, and estimate tracking templates.
- Strong understanding of construction materials means and methods, sequencing, and project delivery processes.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred:
- Strong negotiation and subcontractor management skills.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam, Procore, AutoCAD, and estimating software.
Location: Must be located in Dallas, TX or Phoenix AZ
