BAO Consulting Group is a founder-owned, boutique CFO advisory and finance transformation firm serving middle-market and PE-backed companies. Our consultants aren't theorists — they implement. We are seeking a Manager to join our Accounting Advisory practice who thrives in fast-paced, high-stakes environments and can drive client outcomes from day one.

What you'll do

  • Lead day-to-day execution of accounting advisory and financial reporting engagements across a portfolio of middle-market and PE-backed clients
  • Prepare and review technical accounting memos, whitepapers, and position papers on topics including revenue recognition (ASC 606), lease accounting (ASC 842), business combinations (ASC 805), and debt/equity classification
  • Support clients through audit readiness, restatements, and financial close process improvements
  • Assist in the design and documentation of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Manage client relationships and serve as a primary point of contact for day-to-day engagement matters
  • Coordinate with client finance teams, external auditors, and legal counsel as needed
  • Supervise and mentor Senior Associates, providing real-time coaching and feedback
  • Contribute to business development efforts including proposal preparation and client presentations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required (or actively pursuing)
  • 4–6 years of experience in public accounting (Big 4 or national firm) or consulting; industry experience in a technical accounting role considered
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
  • Experience with complex technical accounting issues in a client-facing or advisory capacity
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to simplify complex concepts for non-accounting audiences
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with ERP platforms (NetSuite, SAP, Dynamics) a plus
  • Self-starter mentality with the ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously
