About Our Search

Our Housing | Mixed-Use | Planning Studio is looking for a strong Architect who will collaborate with the whole team, working to develop documentation and be actively involved in construction phases to ensure that the design intent is preserved and executed throughout the project and to completion. This individual will coordinate with the design and technical project teams throughout the design process to successfully execute architectural projects.

About the Position

  • Develops a thorough understanding of projects’ design philosophy and provides input in developing a design and building performance strategy and effectively conveys this to assigned team members when appropriate.
  • Contributes to the project’s technical design effort, subsequent detailed design development, project coordination and quality control efforts during all phases of project work, in close collaboration with the project manager and project designer.
  • Seeks creative and innovative solutions to assigned tasks and develops appropriate research and documents to support these solutions.
  • Actively collaborates with and coordinates the work of consultants and knowledge resources to ensure the project deliverables are coordinated, integrated, and support the design concept and performance goals of the project.
  • Contributes to the preparation of design documents and detailed development of construction documents during all project phases.
  • Advances the production of schematic, design development, and construction documents in compliance with project scope, schedule, cost, and design intent.
  • Maintains awareness of evolving building technology and systems
  • Reviews shop drawings, material samples, and CDs for conformance with design
  • Performs construction administration duties (e.g., RFI’s, ASI’s, review shop drawings, change orders, etc.)
  • Maintains contact with clients, consultants, and contractors during all project phases, participating in marketing, client and owner presentations as requested.
  • Have awareness of project financials and assist the project manager to identify areas of scope creep which require fee adjustments.

About You

  • 10 - 15 years of experience in the Architectural field.
  • Valid architectural license required.
  • Experience in housing and/or mixed-use markets required.
  • Wood-frame multifamily documentation experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership and experience with project teams.
  • Foster team building and mentor less-experienced colleagues.
  • Experience in preparing construction documents and construction administration.
  • Excellent Revit, Bluebeam, and Newforma skills.
  • Experience leading client meetings and sub-consultant coordination.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes and regulations
  • LEED and/or WELL Building credentials are a plus.

Hord Coplan Macht’s salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location, as well as the individual’s education, experience, and skillsets.
