About the role

The RMA Specialist supports the 24/7 operations of our data centers with a focus on hardware lifecycle management, including setup, testing, diagnostics, repair coordination, and RMA processing. This role ensures that all physical infrastructure; servers, storage devices, and network equipment, operates reliably and meets quality standards.

Pay Range: $20-24 /hr

What you'll do

Perform hardware setup, testing, and validation prior to deployment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Diagnose, document, and escalate recurring or complex hardware failures.
Coordinate RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) requests, including vendor communication, part returns, and tracking replacements.
Maintain accurate inventory of hardware components, replacements, and RMA status.
Support the installation, racking, and cabling of servers, switches, and related infrastructure.
Execute data destruction procedures for reclaimed or decommissioned devices in accordance with security policies.
Assist in performing hardware audits and maintaining asset documentation in internal tracking systems.
Monitor alerts, tickets, and chat queues; provide timely response and escalate issues as needed.
Perform firmware and BIOS updates on servers and other hardware platforms.
Install and configure operating systems using standard images and base configurations.
Support planned maintenance and infrastructure upgrade projects under guidance from senior staff.
Collaborate with team members to identify process improvements and update technical documentation.
Participate in a rotating on-call schedule as required (location dependent).
Provide courteous and effective communication with internal stakeholders and customers.

What you bring

3+ years of experience in data center operations, hardware support, or system build environments.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent hands-on experience in IT, electronics, or a related field.
Strong understanding of computer hardware architecture and diagnostic procedures.
Familiarity with RAID, BIOS/firmware updates, and common hardware troubleshooting tools.
Working knowledge of Linux and Windows Server operating systems.
Basic networking fundamentals (switching, cabling, IP configuration).
Experience coordinating or managing RMAs with vendors or manufacturers.
Strong documentation, organization, and record-keeping skills.
Ability to perform detailed testing and maintain quality assurance standards.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork abilities.
High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Proven reliability and accountability in a 24/7 operational environment.
