About the RoleÂ
At The Salvation Army Thrift Store, your work helps turn donations into funding for programs that support people in our community. This role combines culinary leadership with rehabilitation support, overseeing both kitchen operations and work therapy training. You'll manage meal preparation while mentoring program beneficiaries, creating a supportive environment that promotes both nutritional well-being and skill development.Â

Kitchen Leadership & TrainingÂ
- Supervise kitchen staff and assistant cookÂ
- Train and mentor beneficiaries in work therapy programÂ
- Schedule kitchen operations for optimal meal serviceÂ
- Create supportive learning environment for skill developmentÂ
- Work alongside beneficiary staff when neededÂ

Menu Planning & Food ServiceÂ
- Plan nutritious menus within budget constraintsÂ
- Order food supplies and manage inventoryÂ
- Conduct bi-weekly inventory of unused itemsÂ
- Ensure timely meal preparation and serviceÂ
- Maintain high standards of food qualityÂ

Program SupportÂ
- Coordinate with rehabilitation staff regarding beneficiary servicesÂ
- Support work therapy skill developmentÂ
- Monitor staffing needs and communicate with managementÂ
- Maintain clean and safe kitchen environmentÂ
- Support The Salvation Army's missionÂ

Administrative DutiesÂ
- Manage kitchen schedules and workflowsÂ
- Monitor budget and food costsÂ
- Maintain inventory recordsÂ

Required Education & ExperienceÂ
- Graduate of accredited food service programÂ
- Minimum one year institutional cooking experienceÂ
- Management experience requiredÂ
- Food safety certification preferredÂ
- Experience training or mentoring othersÂ
