The Role As a Health Center Assistant I, you'll provide essential support for both patient care and health center operations. Depending on the needs of the health center, you may support front office functions, clinical services, or both while helping ensure a seamless and positive patient experience. What You'll Do Welcome, register, and support patients throughout their visit. Schedule appointments, process payments, verify information, and assist with patient follow-up. Provide education and resources related to sexual and reproductive healthcare services. Support clinicians by gathering patient information and maintaining accurate electronic health records. Perform clinical support duties, including vital signs, laboratory testing, and specimen collection when trained and assigned. Prepare exam rooms, stock supplies, and maintain clean, organized patient care areas. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, and PPSWO standards. Contribute to efficient clinic flow and an exceptional patient experience. QualificationsYou're the Right Fit If You... Have a high school diploma or GED. Enjoy working directly with patients and providing outstanding customer service. Thrive in a fast-paced environment and can adapt to changing priorities. Communicate effectively and respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Have strong organizational, clerical, and basic computer skills. Are comfortable learning healthcare systems and technology. Can work some evenings and Saturdays and travel to other health center locations as needed. Have reliable transportation. Bonus Points If You... Have healthcare-related education, certification, or training. Have experience in reproductive, sexual, or community healthcare. Have experience using electronic medical records (EMR/EHR). Hold a current CPR certification. Have previous healthcare, medical office, or nonprofit experience. What to Expect: Work Environment A fast-paced healthcare environment focused on patient care and service. Frequent interaction with patients, clinicians, and team members. Regular standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Exposure to clinical settings, laboratory materials, and healthcare-related environments. Occasional travel between PPSWO locations.
