The Mgr-Total Rewards is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for designing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive suite of health, welfare, retirement, and compensation programs. This role requires strong project management skills and supports various departments in implementing key initiatives within the Total Rewards function. Working closely with leadership, the Manager ensures that all programs align with organizational goals, comply with regulatory requirements, and enhance the employee experience. Regular interaction with key stakeholders drives strategic planning, making this role essential in attracting, retaining, and engaging employees across the organization.

Essential Duties & Functions: 

 

1.       Design, implement, and oversee a comprehensive suite of health & welfare, retirement and compensation programs that align with organizational goals and compliance requirements.

2.       Prepare and analyze reports on plan performance, usage, and regulatory compliance for senior leadership.

3.       Oversee all aspects of the company’s retirement plans, including Defined Benefit (DB) pensions and Defined Contribution plans particularly 401(k), 401(a) 403(b), and Tax Exempt 457(b) Plans.

4.       Ensure new plan designs and programs aligns with organizational objectives and industry standards.

5.       Lead annual plan audits, nondiscrimination testing, and process Form 5500 filings.

6.       Manages relationships with external vendors, consultants, and financial advisors to optimize retirement plan offerings and manage health and well-being costs.

7.       Lead and manage strategic initiatives across Total Rewards functions, ensuring timely and effective implementations.

8.       Regularly engages with internal stakeholders to assess needs, drive strategic planning, and enhance the employee experience.

9.       Continuously monitors industry trends and conduct benchmarking to ensure the organization’s Total Rewards offerings remain competitive, innovative, and aligned with best practices.

10.    Identify opportunities to financially optimize Total Rewards programs, enhancing employee experience and organizational alignment.1 to 3

Experience

Prior job title or occupational experience: Prior experience in Total Rewards, compensation, benefits, retirement services, or combination thereof, with at least 3 to 5 years in leadership role within a large, self-insured organization.  Prior experience in total rewards, compensation, benefits, retirement services or combination thereof, with at least 3 to 5 years in a leadership role within a large, self-insured organization.

Prior specific functional responsibilities: N/AN/A

Preferred experience:   Previous experience in a Healthcare Environment strongly preferred with a focus on Compensation and/or Benefits. Additionally, specific experience managing Defined Benefits as well as Defined Contribution retirement plans preferredPrevious experience in a Healthcare Environment strongly preferred with a focus on Compensation and/or Benefits. Additionally, specific experience managing Defined Benefits as well as Defined Contribution retirement plans preferred.

Other experience requirements: Experience in project management related to implementation of benefits administration systems, cloud-based HRIS, Total Rewards portals and other innovative offerings.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Knowledgeable of ERISA, DOL, IRS, and other federal and state regulations.

     

  •  Knowledgeable of compensation management including total rewards strategic model framework.

  •  Knowledgeable of retirement plan audits, nondiscrimination testing, and Form 5500 filings.

  • Ability to handle highly confidential HR information in a professional manner.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Ability to correspond and engage in crucial conversations with all levels of management.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

  • Familiarity with PayScale, Infor Lawson, ADP, bSwfit, HR Service Now and other third-party benefits administration, compensation and HRIS management platforms.

  • Advanced Excel, Word, PowerPoint skills.
