We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Tax Accountant to join our Accounting team. This role is responsible for supporting the organization's federal, state, and local tax compliance efforts while assisting with tax planning initiatives and financial reporting requirements.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in tax accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external advisors. Essential Responsibilities
- Convert financial statements from book basis to tax basis and reconcile differences.
- Prepare federal tax returns and related supporting schedules.
- Prepare and file various tax returns, including:
- Forms 1120, 1120S, 1120H, 1065, and 1040
- Tangible Personal Property Tax Returns
- Sales and Use Tax Returns
- Trust Returns
- Gift Tax Returns
- Prepare and file Form 5500 for employee benefit plans.
- Research and analyze federal, state, and local tax laws, regulations, and rulings.
- Assist with the development and implementation of tax planning strategies.
- Analyze financial information to identify tax implications, opportunities, and potential risks.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and recommend actions to maintain compliance and optimize tax positions.
- Serve as a liaison with external tax consultants, auditors, and regulatory agencies.
- Collaborate with leadership and other departments to address tax-related issues and support organizational goals.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 to 8 years of progressive tax accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of tax and accounting principles.
- Experience preparing a variety of federal, state, and local tax returns.
- Proficiency with tax software and tax research tools.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
Preferred
- CPA certification or active progress toward CPA certification.
- Master's degree in Taxation.
- Public accounting firm experience.
- Real estate industry experience.
